1 Background of the problem

There are 5 types of school which are private school, international
school, national school, smart school and technique school. Based on
the students’ achievement and the organization of the school, we want
to know whether the organization of the school affects students’
achievement.

1.2 Problem Statement

Referring to the above statement we would like to carry out a research
regarding the degree of influence of the school organization on the
student’s outcome. Subsequently, we would like to look over whether
the organization of the schools gives positive feedback on the student’s
achievement.

1.3 Research Objective

1.3.1 To identify whether the school has regularity in conducting
assessments.
1.3.2 To identify the different organization in the schools.
1.3.3 To identify the best organization that provide positive outcomes
in students achievement where focusing on academic and co-
curricular activities.

1.4 Research Question

Schools in Malaysia are categorized to private and government-
sponsored schools. Here we would like to emphasize the organization
of secondary education in Malaysia (referring to number of schools in
Malaysia). Do the organizations in these schools influence the
students’ outcomes?

1.5 Significance of the Study

Schools are service organizations that are committed to
teaching and learning. The ultimate goal of the student is student
learning; in fact, its very existence is based on such activity. Schools
more than any other kind of organization should be learning
organizations. They should be places where participants continually
expand their capacities to create and achieve, where novel patterns of
thinking are encouraged, where collective aspirations are nurtured,
where participants learn how to learn together, and where the
organization expands its capacity for innovation and problem solving
(Senge, 1990; Watkins and Marsick, 1993).

If schools are to be effective learning organizations, they must

find ways to create structures that continuously support teaching and

learning and enhance organizational adaptation; develop organizational

cultures and climates that are open, collaborative, and self regulating;

attract individuals who are secure, efficacious and open to change; and

prevent vicious and illegitimate politics from displacing the legitimate

activities of learning and teaching. Transformational leadership, open

and continuous communication, and shared decision making are

mechanisms that should and can enhance organizational learning in

schools. The challenge is to create schools that have the capacity to

respond effectively not only to contemporary problems, but also to

new and emerging issues of school effectiveness.

Schools are embedded within districts established by

communities to provide both educational and extracurricular activities

for young people and a centre for social, political, and cultural

community events.

1.6 Hypothesis
We assume that generally private schools, smart schools and
international schools own better organizations compared to national
schools and technique schools. This is because private schools, smart
schools and international schools are equipped with enough facilities
and they are commonly well known as vision and mission oriented
schools. Where as national schools and technique schools do have
these facilities as well as vision and mission but with limited scope.
3.0 Research design

The research will be conducted by providing questionnaires to the

administrative staff of the schools.

3.1 Variables

Research is conducted in different kinds of urban schools such as private

school, smart school, international school, national school and technique
school.

3.2 Population and Samples

Research is conducted in 5 secondary schools which SMK Raja Chulan Ipoh

which represents the national school, SM Teknik Persiaran Brash Ipoh
which represents the technique school, Garden International School which
represents the international school, SMK Seri Bintang which represents
Smart school and SM (J) Chung Hwa which represents private school

3.3 Instrumentation

Based on the results of the questionnaires, we will come out with data and
graphs.

3.4. Conclusion

Organization of a school plays a major role in student’s achievement. A well

organized school will have disciplined students, and curriculum and co-
curricular that will give a good achievement in students and vise versa.
