Rationale:
For English language arts, the teacher candidate will use the same checklist for all
students as they work and match sentences through technology. Using the SmartBoard, the
students will have to match illustrations to sentences, by coming up to the SmartBoard.
Additionally, the teacher candidate does not have a differentiated checklist. Instead, the target
students will receive prompting throughout the assessment. The students will also work in a
group of four to determine if illustrations match the sentences that will be presented on the
SmartBoard. The teacher candidate will use the same checklist for all students, due to the
students having support from peers and prompting from the teacher candidate. Students will be
scored on their ability to match illustrations to sentences on the SmartBoard by clicking,
dragging, and explaining their illustration.

Requirement Meets criteria Does not meet criteria

Put name on the flag.

Glue paper from big to small.

Put stars in the box.

Rationale:
The exit slip was differentiated to meet the needs of the students. Specific words were
highlighted to inform the students what to do, such as write their name, glue, and put stars in the
box. Highlighting the key areas will allow the student to zone in on the specific requirements.
Additionally, it will promote success in the student and give a clear expectation of what they
need to do.
Science: Exit Slip

Science: Differentiated Exit Slip

Rationale:
The exit slip is differentiated by highlighting specific focus words to complete the exit
slip, and an image of a pencil to show the students what they need to use to draw. The teacher
candidate will also read the sentence to the students before they begin, to ensure they have a
clear understanding of what is expected.

Rationale:
The teacher candidate differentiated the exit slip by highlighting focus words and
numbers. In addition, the student’s exit slip will have an example of how to complete the exit
slip with an example problem. The teacher candidate will also inform the students how to
complete the exit slip by giving verbal directions and pointing to specific spots on the exits slip
while explaining.
