My students are using the Edmodo mobile
application on their individual cell phones or
tablets to collaborate with their peers and to create
a topic sentence based off a chosen book selected
by the student.

Activity Students will download the app on their device and
join the class that I will have set up for them. After
joining, I will then be able to assign worksheets and
activities to complete. For this activity, they will be
given a paragraph that was multiple grammatical,
spelling, and punctuation errors. They are to
correct as many mistakes as they can. Once the
activity is completed, they will submit and upload
their work to the “Classroom Blog” for other
classmates to review. Having them upload their
work will allow me to review they work, decide

Students will first choose a short chapter book to
read. After reading, they will create a topic
sentence that describes the main idea of the story.
The sentence is to include correct spelling,
grammar, and punctuation. They will then join our
Edmodo class through the app on their chosen
device. Students will upload their topic sentences
for other students to view. Classmates will be able
to correct any mistakes within the sentence and
use their sentences as a way to discover new books
that they may be interested in. As a class, they
students will be able to read their topic sentence
and tell the class what their book was about.
