Title

INTRODUCTION
Have a discussion on stylistics, in general.
When you have fully exhausted it, choose a linguistic element you want to explore and

explain how this linguistic element becomes a focal point of analysis in the text chosen (ex. noun

phrase, pronoun, passive construction, semantic element such as lexical field)

Once you have decided on a linguistic element, provide a discussion of this linguistic

element (define it, provide its functions), or share some articles about this linguistic element (you

may consult grammar books regarding some additional information)

The Material
This subheading (The Material) is still under Introduction. Note that the kind of material

you use should contain the foregrounded linguistic element you have chosen (ex. the poem must

have a profusion of pronouns, if you intend to analyze the role of pronouns in the text). Otherwise,

you won’t have anything to say or analyze at all. Here, you should be able to describe your text—

its physical structure, author, etcetera, but make sure you do not overdo the description.

Biographical notes are not necessary. Focus on the text. Once done, give the questions you intend

to answer. Convert this focus into (research questions) For example:

This stylistic paper answers the following questions:

1. How does ____________ (the text) deploy the use of pronouns in the text?

2. What meaning and effect are shaped by the pronoun in the text?

METHODOLOGY

Provide a description of the method of analysis you have employed. Specifically indicate

the order of analyses: what were analyzed first to last, if you did some categorizing, tabulating, or

if the analysis was made in several levels (stanza or in full text level)

Example:

This paper analyzes pronouns in terms of the exclusivity/inclusivity dichotomy of the

pronoun. Note that your methodology will depend on the focus of your analysis.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Provide an introductory paragraph which describes what is expected in this section.

For example:

This section presents and discusses the data analyzed in the study…

Make sure that your analyses are divided into subheadings with proper subheads

The subheads should reflect the order of analyses you described in your methodology. Example of

a subhead:

Pronoun Functions

You may provide tables for some of your data. Make sure that a discussion is provided

when the data is shown.

CONCLUSION
Have a brief summary of the objective of the paper before providing the implications of

the results.
