• Taught 28 students: 10 English Language Learners, 1 student with 504 Plan, 2 students with Individual Education Plan, 3 Speech
Students, 19 Struggling Readers. Taught and managed daily instruction areas 4/days a week.
• Planned differentiated guided reading instruction and literacy centers for 6 homogeneous reading groups; including word work
using multi-sensory approaches, opinion and narrative writing, and reading using comprehension strategies.
• Taught phonological awareness and phonics instruction, decoding and comprehension strategies, Mathematics and Science
integrated lessons using California standards-based curriculum and Next Generation Science Standards.
• Integrated culturally-relevant resources into lessons and incorporated student background and interests, which led to a positive
and caring learning environment and increased student engagement and motivation.
• Set goals and implemented strategies for 3 lowest reading groups on a daily basis. Increasing 64% of student’s reading levels in 3
months, referencing the Fountas and Pinnell Level Gradient.
• Identified student need for word analysis strategies and designed lessons, which led to improved fluency and comprehension
development and increased word recognition and vocabulary automaticity.
• Introduced differentiated instruction to grade-level teams. Assisted and collaborated for altering the curriculum to meet diverse
learning needs.
