ABC Baby Blanket
Notes: This blanket is a classic nine block baby coverlet,
worked flat in one piece. The borders are worked in garter
stitch, while the blocks are worked in a combination of
A Heart Top
stockinette stitch and reverse garter stitch, as charted. Slight Chart Chart Block
puckering may occur from one stitch type to the next, but will

When working the charts, read RS rows (odd numbers) from
right to left, and WS rows from left to right.

Knitted Cast On
Begin with a slip knot on the left needle. Knit one st into the Star B Sailboat
slip knot, sliding the knit stitch back onto the left needle. .
*Knit one st into the knitted st and slide this st back onto the Chart Chart Chart
left needle. Repeat from * for desired number of sts.

Stockinette Stitch
Row 1 (RS): Knit all sts.
Row 2 (WS): Purl all sts.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for pattern.

Garter Stitch Block Chart Chart
Knit all sts, every row.
Chart
Reverse Garter Stitch
Purl all sts, every row.

Directions
Using knitted cast on method, CO 153 sts. Work 24 rows in garter
stitch, ending with a WS row.

pm, work C Chart over next 35 sts, pm, work 12 sts garter st, pm,
work Duck Chart over next 35 sts, pm, work 12 sts garter st, pm,
work Bottom Block Chart over next 35 sts, pm, work 12 sts garter
st. Continue as established until all 56 rows of the charts are
completed, ending with a WS row.

Work 24 rows in garter stitch, ending with a WS row.

Work 12 sts garter st, work Sailboat Chart over next 35 sts,
work 12 sts garter st, work B Chart over next 35 sts, work 12 sts
garter st, work Star Chart over next 35 sts, work 12 sts garter
st. Continue as established until all 56 rows of the charts are
completed, ending with a WS Row.

Work 24 rows in garter stitch, ending with a WS row.

Work 12 sts garter st, work Top Block Chart over next 35 sts,
work 12 sts garter st, work Heart Chart over next 35 sts, work 12
sts garter st, work A Chart over next 35 sts, work 12 sts garter
st. Continue as established until all 56 rows of the charts are
completed, ending with a WS Row.

Work 24 rows in garter stitch, removing stitch markers as you go


and ending with a WS row. Bind off all sts knit wise.

Finishing
Weave in ends, gently block and allow to dry thoroughly.
