Leadership Early Childhood Program

Summary of Growth

Going through these courses has really put a lot in perspective for me. I fell that being in the

business for over 12 years I still have more to learn. There are always things to learn especially

in the business that we are in. I feel I excel in some of the things that were in these classes but

still have many things to learn.

These days work has been long and staffing has been a challenge so doing these classes has just

been hard in itself. Amanda and I work 10-12 hour days so honestly the homework has been a

struggle but I am determined to get it done and try to finish strong. I have really enjoyed

taking the time to do the assignments and better myself for my program, staff and families.

They are the reason that I am doing this credential and want to improve my program and

myself because of them.

How I have changed as a leader and a manager? I feel that I have a better knowledge of

leadership and how to handle some situations that I probably would have handled differently

without these classes.

One thing comes to mind when there was a section about parent handbooks. I have made

many changes to my handbook that needed to be done. I will have a review in June with my

supervisors and hopefully my changes will be accepted and in our new handbook.

I enjoyed learning how to deal with staff as well. Learning more about the hiring process and

when a staff person leaves doing an exit interview for them I think is a great idea.
I’m really enjoyed doing the project with other classmates on creating a child care center and

working through the process. It was definitely an experience that I will remember. It’s neat to

work with other people from different areas because we all have different ideas on how things

should work out. The process worked out great and we all seemed to work together even

though it was hard to connect and always get together to work on the project. But in the end,

it worked out well and we put together a great project.

I am excited to finish these classes and put what I’ve learned to work. I hope to finish strong

and I am very excited to present the project that we have worked very hard to get up and

running.
