Signature Assignment – Final Reflection

Discussion questions

1. What connections have you had from what you’ve studied in this LW course with what
you’ve learned from other courses you have taken at SLCC or have learned before taking this
class? Make specific references to your work in this class and in other courses.

The most influential connection that I have made in this course was with myself. As a
meditation class, that was part of the objective. I came into this course with an open mind
and tried to expand myself love and self-awareness the best I could. I can admit that this
course assisted in some minor inner growth.

2. How did what you learned in other courses enhance what you learned here, and vice versa?

While I’ve been attending SLCC, I have taken a couple yoga courses, as well as other group
dynamic courses. The best advice I’ve learned while taking these types of classes is be
confident and be yourself. It’s not easy to speak up in front of a group, especially when it
comes to spiritual/personal insight. By allowing myself to be truthful in what I’m speaking up
about, allows me to be unique and hopefully helps inspire others to do the same.

3. Reflect on what you thought about fitness and lifelong wellness before you took this course
and how you think about it now that you have completed the course.

My major at SLCC is the Exercise Science transfer program. I have gone through four
semesters where the bulk of my classes are health and fitness oriented. This has benefitted
me immensely every semester. Each class taken, I have been able to build my knowledge on
what pristine health and wellness is and how it affects me personally. This course
specifically has grounded me by helping me add to my meditation practices. I have found
that meditation is essential in keeping a level head while taking on other stressful classes. I
have learned to break down my thought process through meditation while doing homework,
working with others, or giving presenting. I know I can use meditation methods anywhere,
anytime, and for anything as long as I allow myself to.

4. Have any of your assumptions or understandings changed? Why? What

assignments/activities/readings were influential in this process?

I wouldn’t say they’ve changed, instead I’ve gained more insight. I’ve never participated in a
group mediation before. I’ve only practiced alone. Going through this course built my
confidence to practice anywhere. Now, wherever I am, in any situation I will take an
opportunity to meditate with minor or major efforts. I can attest that it is very relieving and
exciting.

5. How will you approach what influenced you differently in the future?

I will continue to do what I did before. I will approach situations with an open mind and
open curiosity. I will allow myself to release any negative intuitions that I maybe holding to.
I will let myself breathe naturally and enjoy life as it is.
