HOW DOES THE AMERICAN EDUCATION EXPO WORKS?

The American Education Expo is a college fair with admissions officers from US Universities that
travel to your city to meet face to face with students interested in studying in the USA. At the fair,
each university has its own table with materials to promote their programs. Students can approach
the tables one by one, listen to what each university has to offer, speak with the admissions officer
and ask questions.

Now that you’ve finished registering for the event, you will receive an email with the ticket attached.
You can either print it or keep it available on your phone.

Once you arrive at the American Education Expo, please show your ticket at the door. Our staff will
scan it and give you a brochure with information on the universities that are participating, like the
city where they are located, their admission requirements, scholarships available and more. This
brochure will help you navigate the fair. Make sure you save it, as it has the email of all the University
representatives. With that, you can contact them after the fair with additional questions, and get
help throughout the application process.

TO TAKE THE MOST ADVANTAGE OF THE COLLEGE FAIR FOLLOW THESE TIPS

• Speak to all universities, even if you are determined to live in a specific city. You might find a
University or College you really like or an opportunity you can’t pass.
• When meeting the College/University representative, smile and introduce yourself. You should
ask your questions and get their business cards. This way you can contact them in case you still
need more information, or to let them know if you decide to apply to their institution.
• Think of questions to ask the Admissions Officers and write them down before you go to the fair.
Here are some suggestions:
o Do you have …………….. (major or program you are interested)?
o What is the cost of the tuition?
o How much will I spend during a year at your university, including tuition, room and board, books,
health insurance, and any other expenses?
o When do I need to choose my major?
o What is the average class size?
o Are there scholarship opportunities for International Students? What are the requirements? Do I
need to fill out a separate application?
o Is the scholarship renewable each year? Or do I need to apply every year?
o Do you have residence halls? How are roommates assigned?
o Can I work on campus? Are there work-study opportunities?
o How much support will I get from my teachers after class? How do you provide academic advice
to students?
o Is it common for Teacher Assistants (not professors) to teach classes?
o Is it possible to do a double major? Will the tuition cost increase?
o Are there research opportunities for undergraduate students?
o What percentage of freshmen return to sophomore year?
o What percentage of students get internships and where?
• After the college fair, email the college representatives, thank them for speaking with you at the
fair. Ask them any additional questions you might have. If you decide to apply, let them know. Being
in touch with a college representative will increase your chances of being accepted and getting a
merit-based scholarship. Do you organize events?
