FIRE TRAINGLE AND ITS IMPORTANCE .

FIRE:

Fire is the rapid oxidation of a material in the exothermic

chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light,
and various reaction products.

STAGES OF FIRE:

Four stages of fire are Incipient, Smoldering, Flaming and

Heat Stage.

Fire Triangle:
The basic principle of fire can be represented by fire
triangle. For fire to exist three things must be present.
1. Fuel: A combustible material or substance that is
consumed during the combustion process.
2. Oxygen: consumed during combustion when it is
chemically combined with the fuel.
3. Heat: A heat or ignition source is essential to start

the combustion process.
Fire triangle is also called as Fire tetrahedron.

How to control/put out a FIRE

There are three approaches to putting out a fire:
Starvation - cutting off the fuel supply.
Ex: stopping gas flow during pipeline fire.
Smothering - separating the fuel from the oxidant.
Ex: By applying foam or carbon dioxide.
Cooling - lower the temperature, usually with water.

IMPORTANCE OF FIRE TRAINGLE

The fire triangle is useful for two reasons.
1. Fire Prevention:
Keep the three element apart and fire cannot start.
2. Fire Fighting:
