• A Detailed Lesson Plan in English

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students must be able to:
a. define and differentiate verbal and non-verbal communication;
b. practice effective verbal and nonverbal communication during social interactions;
c. recognize verbal and non-verbal cues in communication; and
d. acquire new vocabulary words.
II. Subject Matter
Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication
Reference: Balgos, A. R. and Sipacio, P. J. (2016). Oral Communication in Context for Senior High
School. C & E Publishing, Inc. Quezon City.
Materials: Worksheets, blackboard/whiteboard, chalk/marker, PowerPoint Presentation,
Laptop, Projector

III. Procedure

Each group will form a line with an arm’s length

We will be playing 2 games. (option to play the


second game as an activity for the Non-Verbal
Communication)

• Muted Telephone (Chinese Whispers) game
(variation of the first).

We will start with the Chinese Whispers game.
I will give each person in the first lines a piece of
paper with 2 sentences written on them.
They will memorize them and they will pass the
message to the person next in line by whispering
whom in turn will whisper the message to the
person next in line until the message reaches the
last person who will then go to the board and will
write the message on the board.
The first person in line will also write the original
message on the board where everybody will read
and compare the original and results of the
whispered messages.

Okay, let’s start. (students will play the Chinese Whispers game)

The second game is the same as the first. It’s just


that this time, it will be one group at a time. Instead
of words, it will be actions. The last person in line
will go to the front and do the action.

have 5 minutes to prepare and 3 minutes to do the
role play.

What are the differences between Verbal Sir, Verbal Communication refers to an interaction
