MINOR PROJECT REPORT

(With general guidelines on how to write a Project Report)

For the students of B.COM – II Semester

 Consult your project guide regularly.


 Whenever necessary, carry out the changes suggested by your guide and then
proceed for next step.
 Do take signatures of your project guide as required on your progress report sheet.
 Work regularly with commitment and ensure that Project Report Activity
Completion Schedule is strictly followed to avoid any last minute’s hustle.
 For any query contact your respective Project Guide/ Class Co-coordinator.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR TYPING/PRINTING
The project report should be strictly prepared according to the following guidelines.

 Finalization of the Project Report


Student should obtain clearance from their respective guide before final printing of the
final project report.

 Paper
The size of the paper sheet: A4
Typing should be done on one side of the paper.

 Font
Type: New Times Roman
Size: 12

 Line Spacing

Body of the text: 1.5 lines


List of tables/graphs/charts/bibliography: Single Line

 Alignment

Title page: Centre


Chapter heading: Centre
Sub-heading: Left
Body of Text: Justify

 Margins
At the binding edge (Left) : not less than 3 cm
Other margins (Right, Top, Bottom): not less than 2 cm.

 Titles
All titles and subtitles should be printed in BOLD.
All the Tables/Graphs/Charts/ Should have appropriate titles.

 Numbering of the Tables/Graphs/Charts

Tables/Graphs/Charts should be numbered in the following fashion. Second


table/Graph/Chart in Second Chapter should be numbered as Table/Graph/Chart No 2.02
where first digit stands for Chapter No. and digits after (.) period stand for serial number
of Table/Graph/Chart in that chapter.
Same numbering system should be followed for other chapters. Tables/Graphs/Charts
must be followed by proper explanation and analysis.

 Pagination

The title page should not carry any page number.


For initial pages (i.e. from students declaration to Executive Summary) numbers should
be given in small Roman Numbers. (like i, ii,iii,iv etc,)
Report should contain main page numbers (i.e.1, 2…..) after Executive Summary.
Main page numbers should start from first page of Chapter 1 and will continue until last
page of the report.
Page numbers are to be given at the centre of bottom of the page.
Pages separating Chapters should not be numbered but be counted.

 Binding of the report

The project should be hard bound with golden embossing as per the standard format

 Number of copies to be prepared

2 Hard copies and 1 soft copy to be emailed to Faculty teaching this course.

 Before submission

Students must sign Declaration and Acknowledgement before getting the signature of the
Guide.

Guidelines For Writing Project Report
Chapter-I Introduction

Introduction: It should include (a) Company introduction for a company based study/
Meaning of the concept for social research, (c) Rationale for choosing the topic/problem
under study.

Objectives of Study: It should be pragmatic and consistent with the title of the study and
achievable during the course of study within the prescribed schedule. Students are
advised to develop the objectives in consultation with their respective guides. The
objectives must start with action oriented verbs. A sample of objectives is given below as
example:

“(a) To study the growth of sales of RO Water Purifiers in East Rohini Area of Delhi.
(b) To compare the market share of branded and local manufacturers of RO Water
Purifier in East Rohini Area of Delhi”

Chapter-II Literature Review - About the company if data will be collected for a
company.

Company Profile: Following aspects need to be covered in the first chapter in order to
know the company profile:
Name and profile of the company with description of Core Business Activities,
Territories covered, Industry to which it belongs, age of the company, name and details
of promoters, proposed growth plans of the company.

Explain the nature of the Organization and its business (service/production/trading etc),
i.e., type of industry & business in which the company is operating. Give information
about their competitors etc. Mention specific functional area, such as marketing, finance,
HR, logistics etc, in which the project is done.

Company’s Vision & Mission, Product range, Size (in terms of manpower & turnover) of
organization. Organization structure of the company and its market share & brand
position in the industry.

Industry Profile: Brief profile of the Industry to which the company belongs including
its current status.

Chapter II – Literature Review –If it is a social research


Students must read a lot about the topic in case the research is on a social/behavioral
issue. Students must be encouraged to choose topics relevant to their area of interest and
then read literature on the topic and give a background information about the topic in
detail. Students must be made to access E – Data Bases in the library to search articles
related to the topic and must be told how to build a summary of past research studies /
articles on the topic which serves as a precursor to their current study.
Chapter III – Data Collection
Students must know the different types of data that are used for research.
They must mention the type of data they will use for this research. In case students are
collecting primary data they must be aware of the various tools used for data collection
and the intricacies of using these tools. Students must be encouraged to use primary data
and for that they must get exposure to developing a questionnaire and the various scales
needed to analyze data collected through questionnaire. Students must be able to present
at least descriptive statistics of the data collected by them using questionnaires.
For data reliability and validity they must know the concept of population and sampling
and they must be able to choose their sample for data collection accordingly. They must
know the limitations of data collected from different sampling techniques.
For secondary data they must be told how to verify the validity of the data. They must
check authenticity the source of data and prohibit the use of Wikipedia for any type of
data collection. They must be made aware of Google Forms as a technique for electronic
data collection. They must be exposed to Basic Excel for basic statistical functions for
data analysis.

Chapter-IV Data Analysis & Interpretation

Raw data (primary or secondary) collected must be reduced to standard formats such as
tables, charts, graphs, diagrams etc and is to be presented in this chapter. Application of
analytical tool(s), Use of graphs, Depiction of Bar diagrams, Histogram and its
observation and inferences drawn. Proper titles, legends, scales, source (s) etc must be
mentioned along with each diagram.

Chapter-V Conclusions & Recommendations

Conclusion should cover findings of the work, whether the stated objectives of the work
is achieved with full justification, recommendations, limitations, directions for future
development. The limitations could be mentioned in terms of data insufficiency, time &
expertise constraints etc.

References/Bibliography
Students must learn styles of referencing.
They must follow APA citation styles and must have a copy of the guidelines for the
same.
They must learn how to give in text citations also.
