Personal Statement
I lose myself in learning. I love to explore aspects of the world that I live in, specifically
science because science is in everything. Science is you and me, the way we think, and what we
see, touch, hear and feel; Science provides explanations yet it doesn't have all the answers. My
love for learning was fueled by many things including books, reading small articles, and
magazines, or newspapers. When I was younger, TV shows and going to the library every week
were how i learned, but recently the internet has played a major role. The Internet is a powerful
tool that has recently allowed me to discover my love of all sorts of things, and how could it not
when he has lifetime's worth of content being uploaded every second.. As a person with a
passion for learning and extreme levels of curiosity I've learned tons of information that some
may consider irrelevant but I consider fascinating. This love for learning, this love for science
has led to me or changes in my life wife shift my decisions, that have sheep to my actions and
my personality. These things have affected many parts of my life the way I communicate with
others how I bond with my family how I think of myself and they have altered my way of
thinking.
I don't know when my love for science or for learning ever started, however I remember
that as a kid whenever I would go to a doctors office or anywhere new, I would ask tons and tons
of questions. I loved to watch shows like Bill Nye the Science Guy are just read a bunch of

nature magazines growing up, I read on many topics with increasing intensity and impact. I read
about things that affected me and those around me including the rest of the world and that led to
a certain understanding that I now have of society and our earth. Through science I've learned
why people act the way they do, why I think what I think. I've learned that people can be
predictably unpredictable. It's extraordinary how much we know and don't know about the
Science means to me a way of helping myself and others. By wanting to learn and grow
as a person, I've realized science is the field of work that I would want to pursue, I would want to
find an end to global warming, or cure illnesses, or learn about space. Since childhood I've
switched between careers I've wanted to pursue, an astronaut, a marine biologist, a chemist, a
doctor and the thing they have in common, is their basis in science. During college I want to
learn as much as I can in order to help others. I want to contribute through research.
My love for learning and science has been shared between me and my family members.
When I was younger my dad taught me about animal science, we would watch documentaries
together and go to zoos. When my dad was out of the picture, I shared science with my youngest
brother, he loved dinosaurs when we were younger and I loved space so we would watch
cartoons and TV shows, and I would read to him. Recently, My oldest brothers and I love to
learn about people, psychology and sociology. Science has made me a more open minded
person, I know understand that thing are relative to everyone. I've become a determined person,
motivated to get ahead and help others. Science made who I am and what I want to be.
