What is anime?

Of French origin, this word refers to the term used in the Western world to define audiovisual
animation. Of close relation with manga (comics), anime is a product of commercial and cultural
entertainment that has generated a mass phenomenon.

Anime is a cultural and entertainment phenomenon that enjoys great popularity internationally. It
is an art that is linked to the manga (Japanese comics), cosplay (the use of costumes) and other
disciplines and trends.

Anime works used to drawn manually, although in recent years digital creations have become
popular. Although there are multiple anime works with different characteristics, there is a typical
style of Japanese animation that began to be forged in the 1960s.

The characters with very large eyes, thin lips and strange hair are one of the most salient features
of the anime. The expressiveness of the faces, on the other hand, differentiates these drawings
from the most common in Western animation.

The anime influenced a many generation in the western world and it created hobbies between the
young people such as: the fantart, the fanfic and to draw your own amines. This has also
influenced their behavior a customs for example, the food of the amines is prepared by the fans to
feel part of the anime.

Anime classification

The anime is classifications in:

Shoujo: This type of anime is guided at young women between the ages of 12 and 15, and its
theme is about school life and adolescent romances

Shoujo anime will typically feature romance as part of the main storyline. There are an endless
number of shoujo anime and manga on the market revolving around high school romances. The
romances in shoujo anime tend to be more idealistic with themes like "love at first sight" or "love
has always been at your side." Many girls dream of the fantasy romance.

Many characters in shoujo tend to battle some sorts of conflict within themselves whether it is
something as simple as being shy, having an inferiority complex, or even trying to achieve a dream,
but many of the issues are ones that girls do face as adolescents.

Shonen: Boys between 9 and 15 years old see this type of anime and its thematic tour is related to
the adventures and fights of its protagonists.

In any anime that’s classified as shounen, there’s always an loser that’s elect as the protagonist.
This character is always dismissed by society for a characteristic that they possess which makes
them “different”, and they are therefore seen as a possible threat that could change the entire
system that most people are comfortable with. Essentially, the goal of these protagonists is to
prove themselves to be worthy and to receive acknowledgment. Whether it’s for good or for evil
depends entirely on the character, but typically, these guys end up on the good side and want to
protect instead of destroy.

What anime and manga in this genre attempt to teach us is that: no matter where you come from,
if you work hard enough, you will get to where you need to be, and you will be happy. What
makes this genre so popular isn’t just the fighting scenes and the brilliantly constructed villains, it’s
also about the life lessons that are offered by each character, which is meant to teach us to have
different perspectives and how that is a harbinger for success, no matter what life throws at you.

Josei: josei is a more mature evolution of the shoujo.

In Japanese, the word “josei” literally means “woman”. in the beginning, manga and anime falling
within the josei category were meant for a more mature female audience, although now it
addresses an even wider range of readers between fifteen and forties years old. That being so, the
topics that josei covers are most of all related to women’s universe, tastes, and vision of the
world.in recent years, josei developed in several subgenres which made it even more various in
content and style. Themes covered by josei mangaka are, related to sexuality, eroticism, woman’s
empowerment and freedom, which are nowadays mixed with action, drama, and fantasy
elements.

Seinen: is a genre that is aimed primarily at the male, college-aged/young adult . Seinen anime
tend to be a little bit more mature than it’s counterpart, Shounen, which is aimed at younger boys.

Seinen has a number of signifiers, but you can generally tell it apart from Shounen as Seinen series
either have a more complex plot, more mature themes and content or have an older main
character. Seinen series are also much more cynical and pragmatic in their approach to conflict.
It’s also more likely that the conflict in a Seinen series might deal with more shades of gray, rather
than black and white and good against evil. Also in Seinen, much more attention is paid to things
like the overall plot, character interaction and dynamics, rather than fighting as compared to
Shounen battle-manga. Increased realism is also a fixture of Seinen Material, often with a more
realistic art-style or with details thrown in throughout the story to make it closer to real life. Even
in Sci-fi or Fantasy Seinen, the fictional worlds may function very closely to the way ours does,
often subject to the same increased cynicism.

Yaoi: is a Japanese term that is used to denote the artistic, erotic, sexual or romantic
representation of relationships centered between two individuals of male sex. This genre can be
applied to anime series, manga or fiction, with stories created and aimed at a mostly female
audience. Originally, the term was used to designate unofficial dōjinshi created by fans and self-
published.

The main characters of this genre generally conform to the stereotype of seme ("active" or
dominant figure) and uke ("passive" or submissive figure). Yaoi material almost always presents
amorous relationships between male characters and may include homoerotic content. Although
yaoi tends to almost always present adolescent characters, the age can vary to anyone above
puberty, including adults

Yuri: Yuri se refiere a todo contenido en el ámbito del entretenimiento que demuestre amor entre
chicas.

Not all Yuri is about serious stories of romance between women. It has also been used as a
humorous touch, and many series with focus more on an adventure or something more and not
on the sexual orientation of the protagonist (s). And then there are other series in which some
secondary characters are the only representation of Girls' Love in the whole story
