My River Trip

The sun is setting on a hot day, he hides coyly behind tall sycamores, his reflection
playing on the undersides of trees on the riverbank. His warm breath is the breeze that kisses
my cheek.

The river carries me on, over pebbles and rocks below the glassy surface. Dragonflies
dart around, flying gems that glisten in the sun.

The heron, with diligent patience, hides seamlessly in the trees awaiting his next meal.
He takes off when I get near, his frame is much larger in flight. The sweetness of
honeysuckle is thick in this warm air. The trees on the riverbank are laden and dripping of the
sweet flowers.

As I gently glide through the water, the waves lap against my boat, almost making the
sound of kisses. This is my river time.

All these beautiful things, I love. There is passion in Nature, it is in birdsong and in
the breeze. It is in the river as it moves along and the swaying of the trees. This is where I
breathe.
The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Once upon a time, there lived a shepherd boy who was bored watching his flock of
sheep on the hill. To amuse himself, he shouted, “Wolf! Wolf! The sheep are being chased by
the wolf!” The villagers came running to help the boy and save the sheep. They found
nothing and the boy just laughed looking at their angry faces.

“Don’t cry ‘wolf’ when there’s no wolf boy!”, they said angrily and left. The boy just
laughed at them.

After a while, he got bored and cried ‘wolf!’ again, fooling the villagers a second
time. The angry villagers warned the boy a second time and left. The boy continued watching
the flock. After a while, he saw a real wolf and cried loudly, “Wolf! Please help! The wolf is
chasing the sheep. Help!”

But this time, no one turned up to help. By evening, when the boy didn’t return home,
the villagers wondered what happened to him and went up the hill. The boy sat on the hill
weeping. “Why didn’t you come when I called out that there was a wolf?” he asked angrily.
“The flock is scattered now”, he said.

An old villager approached him and said, “People won’t believe liars even when they
tell the truth. We’ll look for your sheep tomorrow morning. Let’s go home now”.

Moral

Lying breaks trust. Nobody trusts a liar, even when he is telling the truth.
Speech on Environment

Good morning to my respected teachers and my dear friends. As we have gathered

here to celebrate this occasion, I would like to speech on the Environment to increase
awareness among public about the negatively changing environment. An environment is the
natural surrounding which covers and protects us from the natural disasters. However, our
healthy and natural environment is getting worse day by day and taking the form of demon
affecting everything from non-living to living beings. What we know is two types of
environment called natural environment and built environment. The natural environment is
one which exists naturally and the one for which man is responsible such as cities etc is
called built environment. There are many natural and unnatural factors polluting the whole
natural atmosphere.

Some of the natural factors like volcanoes, flood, etc are the reasons of declining
environment. However, manmade reasons are more rampant caused due to the reckless and
the caustic human nature are highly responsible for the environmental pollution. Self centred
human activities are highly responsible for the destruction of the environment. Other
environmental threats like forests degradation, global warming, pollution, etc are the reasons
of environment degradation. Continuous increasing temperature of the earth surface in the
atmosphere because of the many human made and natural means calls to the various natural
calamities causing disturbance to a great extent to the healthy and common life of human and
all other living beings.

Our natural environment has become hugely changed in the last few decades and has
taken form of big and powerful demon affecting the lives of people every single moment.
Nature has made everything to run in balance with the natural cycle however many factors
causes environmental corrosion. The factors like population growth and economic
advancement are considered as the major factors giving rise to many other secondary factors.
We must understand the importance of ecological balance and try our best to run it naturally
in order to prevent the effects of environmental disasters and promote the existence of healthy
environment. We should promote common public in our surroundings for the clean and green
environment to prove the meaning of proverb like “We won’t have a society if we destroy the
environment”.
