It is now six months on and Star Industries has expanded into South East Asia with one office in
Singapore. As the Business Development Manager, you are responsible for a number of staff
who travel regularly as part of their role. It has come to your attention recently that several staff
members have been accruing frequent flyer points from business travel and using these points
for their own personal travel. You are unsure if this is allowed or not and so decide to investigate
the situation.

Your investigation may result in a review of the company’s Code of Ethics. You should also
review at least two other Codes of Ethics from other companies.

Once you have completed your investigation, send a memo to your CEO detailing your
investigation of this situation, including details of the two other Codes you reviewed, as well as a
recommendation on whether the practice of accumulating frequent flyer points for personal use
should be allowed.

The assessor in the role of CEO will email you as to their response. Following the CEO’s
response you should develop a further memo to all staff indicating the company’s position on this
issue, as well as clear directions for staff with regard to the use of frequent flyer points. You
should also attach the Code of Ethics for staff information.

The memos you develop should be in clear and concise English and submitted by the date
advised by your assessor.
