I. Story

Once there was a caterpillar that was lost in a city of butterflies. Just because he has a

different appearance from the majority he was degraded and unfavored by many. His

name was Deny. Everyday he hears insults from the butterflies. He is all alone.

One time he was heading to the forest to find something to eat. He found a lot of fallen

leaves from the trees which made him happy of what he saw and there he started eating.

In the middle of his meal, there comes a beautiful butterfly named Ellie. She had a different

color from the butterflies in the city. She had black wings with red circles on its surface.

“Hello my dear friend, why are you eating all alone in this vast forest?” Ellie asked Deny.

“I am unfavored by everyone here. You see I am different from you.” Deny sadly replied.

“I was once in your place, isolated and unfavored but I don’t mind because being

mainstream is boring.” Ellie answered and smiled. Deny the caterpillar felt relieved of what

Ellie the butterfly said. Meanwhile, a girl named Joy walked along the forest and stopped in

front of the butterfly. She sat down looking at the direction of Ellie the butterfly and Deny the

caterpillar. Ellie felt nervous and slowly moved back together with the Deny.

“Wow! This looks so good!” exclaimed the little girl. She picked up the leaf that Deny was

eating and showed it to her friends. They appreciated the structure and position of the holes

on the leaf. “Did you know that these holes are caused by caterpillars who ate this leaf?”

said one of Joy’s friends.

“Oh! That caterpillar must be an artist” joy replied.

“See? Majority of the butterflies might not appreciate you for your appearance but there will
always be someone out there who appreciates what you do. It’s not always about the

appearance. Sometimes there are little things we do that we are unaware of that makes

other creatures happy. Just be yourself” The butterfly said to the caterpillar.

II. Moment of Amazement

I was scrolling through Facebook when I passed by this article entitled “Edible Plastics”. This
article caught my attention and gave me a moment of amazement because we all know
that plastics has been a dilemma for years now and no one addresses this obvious problem
in our environment. Seaweed-based packaging are good for small-format food sachets and
wraps, like instant noodle seasoning, cereal, burger wrap and etc. It is good way to replace
our conventional packaging to enjoy your delicious food in a convenient and healthy way,
and a best way to save our only earth. It can also be used to package the non-food based
contents such as toothpicks, soap bars and sanitary pads. In this way, we can lessen the use
of plastics and can help in addressing problems on solid waste management.
