To calculate the area of guest house of vignan university by using total
station.

About total station:

The total station is an electronic instrument used in modern surveying. It
is the combination of EDM instrument and electronic theodolite.
The instrument is used measure the horizontal distance, vertical angles
as well as sloping distance of object to instrument.

Components of total station:

WORKING OF TOTAL STATION:
we can find any type structure area on total station very easily in a few
steps :

 Firstly we read the ordinates of the boundary then we can

find the area of that boundary wall. For Area option we will
go to status screen first then we will select the obs
(observation) option.

 Then we change the page through function key. Then we will

select the area calculation option with the help of arrow keys
and Enter the option(Area calculation) .

 If you want to find Area of the presence point first .so press
the Load option will select the desire point. When all point
selected i mean that points which point you want to find area
and then press the calc(calculation) option.so Area will
appear on the screen of the point. Finding area of these
points.

Practical procedure for finding area:

While using the total station we firstly create a file and we will do all the
calculations in that file and save those values. If want to retrieve any
values from those we can retrieve from it.
Firstly we will set the reference coordinates

1. PN: A

2. X: 1000.00 m

3. Y: 1000.00 m

4. Z: 300.00 m

5. I.H: 1.41 m

Learning’s from this project:

 We learnt how to use the total station in practical means.
 By using this equipment the calculation of area has become very
easy than by using other methods.
 By using the total station we can locate the points by means of
graphical way also.
