The Government urges the General Public to accept only the official news confirmed by the
Departmentof Government lnformation, Police Media Spokesman or three force Media
Spokesmen when concerning the information on present security operations against
terrorism.

The Government has vested power in three forces including the police to eradicate
terrorism connected with savage terrorist attack happened on 21'tApril. The security forces
are continuously carry out inspections and operations as well as arresting suspects and
responsible persons for these terrorist attacks. The Government requests the media to
accept only the official news confirmed by the Department of Government lnformation,
Police Media Spokesman or three force Media Spokesmen while reporting these
information to the public,

lnformal communications with regard to the investigations being carried out by the security
forces is a hindrance to investigations.

Actions has been taken by the Government to provide necessary information to the public
through official news confirmed by the Department of Government lnformation, Police
Media Spokesman or three force Media Spokesmen to avoid unnecessary public
disturbance caused by informal information received via SMS, rumors or other informal
communications systems. Therefore, the Government urges the Sri Lankan communities to
be anxious due to the information received through informal communication.
