Gendry is fond of chatting with strangers through various online messaging applications.

While using
WeChat, Arya became his chat mate. Although a minor, Arya misrepresented to Gendry that she is of
legal age already. Through constant exchange of messages, they became close to one another.
Eventually, Arya became Gendry’s virtual girlfriend even though they have not seen each other.

The couple became intimate to one another to the point that they would exchange sweet messages
daily and even lewd pictures of one another. They mutually agreed that they would not send pictures
with their faces, so as to maintain the excitement of their first meeting.

There were times that he would borrow money from her, and the latter would voluntarily agree to lend
money by transferring the money online to his bank account. Severely in need of money, he asked her
if she could lend him Php300,000. Since she is still a student and is solely relying on the allowance given
by her parents, she told him she could not afford to grant his request. Out of desperation, he repeatedly
threatened her that he would post online her lewd photos.

Pressured and stressed, she sought the assistance of police officers. They agreed and planned to entrap
him. She tried to contact him, but he ignored her messages for two weeks. During this two week period,
he never sent any message to her despite her repeated efforts to contact him. After two weeks, she was
able to convince him to communicate with her by misrepresenting that she already agreed to lend
Php300,000. She told him to meet her at Winterfell Hotel.

On the agreed date and hotel room that she reserved, he met her for the first time. Unknown to him,
the police officers were waiting at the hotel room beside their room. She and the police officers agreed
that the police officers would enter the room and arrest him 8 minutes after they receive her text
message informing them that he already entered the room.

While inside the room, she handed the marked money amounting to Php300,000 to him. Out of
excitement and gratitude, he kissed her and promised that he would delete her lewd photos. Thereafter,
the police officers entered the room and caught the couple in the act of kissing one another. They
arrested him, informed him of his constitutional rights and brought him to the King’s Landing Police
Station. After the inquest proceedings, he was charged with Robbery with Extortion.
