ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): PROVERBS 3:5-6
MESSAGE TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WILL IN MARRIAGE

SERVICE OBJECTIVE: Getting a clear understanding of the Will of God in marriage
THINGS TO NOTE:
1. It is important to know the will of God in marriage and for every issue in life (Rom. 12:1-2)
2. God is specially interested in directing His people who are interested in His direction (Prov.
3:5-6; Jer. 33:3; Ps. 32:8)
THE NECESSITY OF KNOWING GOD’S WILL IN MARRIAGE:
1. God’s will in marriage is necessary because a prudent wife or husband can only come by the
help of God (Prov. 19:14)
2. God’s will in marriage is necessary because God Who created you knows who is best suited
for your composition (Gen. 1:27)
3. God’s will in marriage is necessary for the fulfilment of God’s purpose for a person’s life,
because destiny is company-specific (Jer. 29:11)
You cannot avoid the plan and fulfil the destiny
4. God’s will in marriage is necessary to avoid being hooked up with the wrong company for life
(Amos. 3:3)
5. God’s will in marriage is necessary to avoid being ushered into a satanic trap for life (Prov.
6:20-24)
If you carry potential, and you carry oil and are headed somewhere, the devil will be angry
CHALLENGES IN FINDING THE RIGHT PARTNER:
1. Choice based on physical appearance or looks (Gen. 3:6)
A person may look like a lamb outside but is a serpent full of venom
There is always more to everything than meets the eye, and it is only God that knows that more
Not everything that is pleasant to the eye
2. Choice based on human recommendations and orchestrations
This is dangerous because the knowledge of man is limited
3. Choice based on material considerations
This is dangerous because you may become part of the property in that person’s house
4. Choice based on desperation (Isa. 40:31; Ps. 27:14)
If you wait, you can’t waste
5. Choice based on sentiments
Don’t hand over your destiny to anybody you don’t know out of pity
The journey of marriage is not the journey of one day; wedding is a day but marriage is for life
Things that can’t be changed easily should not be entered into in a hurry
BASELINE REQUIREMENTS FOR GOD’S WILL IN MARRIAGE:
1. Be genuinely born again; be His sheep (Ps. 23:1-2; John 10:27)
2. Be obedient to God (Ps. 68:6; 25:9)
God does not waste His instructions on the disobedient
3. Place a very high value on God’s plan for your life; have a very high dread of missing God
(Phil. 3:10-13)
4. Be desperate for His Will (Hab. 2:1; Hos. 6:3)
5. Maintain a high level of prayerfulness and sensitivity (Jer. 33:3; 29:13)
6. Avoid unequal yoking (2Cor. 6:14-16)
7. Avoid non-specific, undefinable relationships with the opposite gender
When your coast is not clear, your choice can’t be clear
8. Be open to God’s leading (Rom. 8:14)
HOW TO ACCESS THE WILL OF GOD IN MARRIAGE:
1. The inward witness (Rom. 8:14; Mark 5:30)
2. Through inward peace (Ps. 85:8)
3. Through inward pictures and revelations (Joel 2:28)
4. Through dreams and visions
5. Through love and affection (1Cor. 13:1-End)
6. Out of Scripture (1Sam. 3:21)
7. Through prophetic confirmation (Hos. 12:10)
WHAT TO DO AFTER DISCOVERING THE WILL OF GOD IN MARRIAGE:
1. Confirm and reconfirm (don’t rush)
2. Pray for the other person
3. Make the move (if you are the woman put him under pressure by prayer)
PASS EVERY LEADING THROUGH 3 TESTS:
1. The Peace test (Ps. 85:8)
2. The love test (1John 4:8)
3. The time test
WHAT TO DO IF WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE WILL OF GOD IS NOT WORKING OUT:
1. Don’t kill yourself
2. Go back to God for recalculation and recalibration
3. Trust God to recreate another person that can fit into your destiny

THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT MARRIAGE:
1. At the very beginning, God gave a commandment, so the issue of marriage is not man’s idea,
it is God’s concept (Gen. 1:27-28)
2. There is a right time for marriage
PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:
- If you are married and it is going through turbulent times, I command, ‘Peace be still’!
- Every marriage that seems to be falling apart, we decree it is gathered together in Jesus’ Name
- May you never taste the wrong relationship
- Every ancestral, generational witchcraft, marine spirit altars, fighting your marriage or your
getting married, by the Anointing of the Holy Ghost on my life, I declare that altar is set on fire!
- Every blood sacrifice fighting your life, destiny & marriage is neutralised now by Fire!
- I take authority over powers from the waters, your covenant and agreement is broken in Jesus’
Name
- Every veil they have used to block your face and cover your life and destiny is set on fire!
- Every embargo is lifted! Every marital struggle is over! The man/woman meant for you is put
under pressure; after tonight, they shall lose their peace until they locate you!
- Everything the devil has put in your body to prevent you from getting married, today they are
flushed out!
- Every smell of disfavour, chronic singleness and frustration is catching fire NOW in Jesus’
