Are High Protein Diets More Advantageous? Commented [DF1]: What should be your title?
Commented [DF2]: BODY – 7.5
I. The Advantages of having a high-protein diet FORMAT – 4

TOTAL – 11.5/15
A. An easy way to lose weight
1. Weight loss from high-protein diets can be attributed to the satiating effects of
these diets caused by the protein content being important in affecting the amount
of food you eat which is why it decreases the amount of cards one eats.

B. May lead to healthier bones

1. The amount of bone that is broken down lessens when there is more protein
intake because it increases the absorption of calcium in the intestines which leads
to a decrease in the amount of parathyroid hormone which increases the
breakdown of bone for calcium in the blood.
2. Protein increases gastric acid secretion which allow the stomach to better absorb
calcium. Commented [DF3]: This was already explained to II

II. The Disadvantages of Having a high-protein diet

A. May lead to kidney damage Commented [DF4]: Can this also be good?
1. You shouldn’t take a high-protein diet if you have existing kidney
dysfunctions because the increased amount of protein makes more waste
pass through the kidneys which can be harmful to the kidney in the long
term.
2. This diet may cause an increase of urine and other type of wastes which may
cause dehydration.

B. May harm bones Commented [DF5]: Can this also be good?

1. the breakdown of bone may increase due to the increase of amino acid from the
proteins which the kidneys may not be able to completely neutralize, requiring
buffering by bone as a result of that limitation
