COMMENTS ON PS-IIA HT SLD

1. Vector Group of the transformers shall be specified (it is advisable to have 220kv side delta and
11kv side star) to determine the ratings of cables (Unearthed OR Earthed) and PT ratings
(11kv/110 or 11kv/sqrt(3)/110v/sqrt(3)), Type of Earth fault protection etc.,
2. PT supply for the motor feeder (99) shall be from Bus PT instead of Line PT.
3. Following indication lamps shall also be provided for all breaker feeders.
a. Spring charged
b. Control supply healthy
c. Breaker in Test position
d. Breaker in Service position
e. Trip circuit healthy –coil-1&2

4. Following Push Buttons shall also be provided

a. Lamp Test Push Button
b. Emergency Stop PB

5. PT input to AVR panel is taken through 3cx150sq.mm UE-XLPE cable. Same shall be corrected.
6. Motor Neutral side also following cores of CTs shall be provided.
a. 3 PS CORES – 2 FOR MOTOR DIFFERENTIAL AND ONE FOR OVERALL DIFFERENTIAL
7. Both motor protection relays shall be identical and shall have Motor Differential protection in
addition with other motor protections.
8. Practically it is not possible to provide 57N and 27,59 protections on same core. 57N protection
(neutral displacement protection) is required only in case of Delta Bus (if 50MVA transformer
secondary (11kv) is Delta). Hence shall be reviewed and discarded. If 57N is also required same
shall be provided on another core (as it requires open delta voltage).
9. HV Fuses (11kv HRC Fuses) shall also be represented for the PT .
10. PT supply input shall also be shown for the AVR panel.
11. Auxiliary Transformer feeder shall be provided with auxiliary Relays for the WTI Alarm and Trip.
12. Operation of the Spring charging motor shall be through station DC i.e., 110v DC instead of 230V
AC supply for enabling offline checking and troubleshooting etc.,
13. Numerical Relays and Multi Function Meters shall have RS485 provision for enabling data
transfer with the station SCADA. Same shall be confirmed.
14. Bus capacitors shall be provided for improving the power factor of the no load Transformers (if
the 50MVA transformers are intended to be idle charged during off season (it is highly
recommended to idle charge the transformers for avoiding failures).
15. Bus capacitors shall be provided for improving the power factor of the Transformers for which
Station Auxiliary Transformers are connected.

LT SLD:

RESERVE BOARD
1. As the auxiliary Transformer is of Dry type Buchholtz relay is not required and hence shall be
discarded.
2. Incomer-2 CT ratio shall be 600/5-5A and DGset-2 CT Ratio shall be 400/5-5A. Both are reversed
and hence shall be corrected.
3. In Bus Coupler also Both sections R-Y-B indication lamps shall be provided.
4. In addition with the indications provided – Breaker ON, Breaker OFF , Control supply healthy
indication lamps shall also be provided.
5. Lamp Test push button/provision shall also be provided.
6. MFM shall have RS-485 provision for communicating with plant SCADA. Hence shall be
confirmed.
7. If specification asks all feeders above 63A shall have Ammeters with selector switches.

SABS:

1. SPECIFICATION SHALL BE PROVIDED.

2. IF SPECIFICATION ASKS THEN ONLY 5SABS are required otherwise 2 are sufficient
3. SAB incomer Breaker shall be provided or else MCCB with Contactor shall be provided.

COMMENTS ON PS-IIIA HT SLD

1. Vector Group of the Incomer Transformer i.e., 20MVA Transformer shall be specified, so as to
finalise the PT rating and type of Earth Fault protection to be provided etc.,
2. In the legend description of the following items shall be modified
a. 87T – Transformer Differential
b. 94 – Trip circuit supervision relay
3. Motor Protection Relays shall be redundant and 100% identical. Hence Motor Differential
protection shall also be provided in the Backup Relay.
4. Following indication lamps shall also be provided for all breaker feeders.
a. Spring charged
b. Control supply healthy
c. Breaker in Test position
d. Breaker in Service position
e. Trip circuit healthy –coil-1&2
5. In side AVR panel it is mentioned that APFR relay. As AVR panel will not contain APFR relay,
same shall be discarded.
6. CT input cable to AVR panel was mentioned as 11kv XLPE cable. Same shall be corrected.
7. HV Fuses (11kv HRC Fuses) shall also be represented for the PT .
8. Emergency Pushbutton and Lamp Test Push button shall also be provided
9. PT supply input shall also be shown for the AVR panel.
10. If WRD insists for SFC stating equipment, Separate feeders shall be provided for the same.
11. Spare feeders shall be provided for the Motor and SFC feeders (as WRD wrote in covering letter)
12. Auxiliary Transformer feeder shall be provided with auxiliary Relays for the WTI Alarm and Trip.
13. As the Capacity of the Motors, Bus Capacitors and Auxiliary Transformers etc., are not yet
finalized, ratings of the same are tentative and hence the chosen ratings of the feeders shall be
modified, if the feeder/CT capacities found to be not sufficient at a later date.
14. Operation of the Spring charging motor shall be through station DC i.e., 110v DC instead of 230V
AC supply for enabling offline checking and troubleshooting etc.,
15. Rating of the incomer feeder CT shall be 1200/1-1-1A only as the Full Load Current of the
Transformer is only 1050A.
16. As the Rating of the transformer is sufficient to feed the total station Load, there is no necessity
of parallel operation and hence the provision for the same in the scheme is required.
17. Numerical Relays and Multi-Function Meters shall have RS485 provision for enabling data
transfer with the station SCADA. Same shall be confirmed.
