on "Sustainable traffic improvement for urban road intersections of
developing countries" and concluded as :
OBJECTIVES
METHODOLOGY
Points of conflicts
Some conflict points are identified and listed below,
these are the major causes for the sever accidents
continuously occurring at that junction.
1.At the exit from Bengaluru– Pune highway (NH-
48) to B.H road (NH-206)
The exit from the Bengaluru-Pune highway at this
junction is not suitably made, sudden turning is
necessary at the exit, this sudden turning will
reduce the speed of the vehicles. This causes minor
and major accidents at that point.
2.At the intersection of the exit road from Bengaluru-
Pune highway , road towards Mahalakshmi nagar,
road towards fire station and B.H.road.
At the intersection vehicles coming from all the
roads faces the difficulty while crossing the
intersection. This problem is also causing minor
and major accident at that points.
3.At the intersection of B.H road and the road which
provide access to the APMC yard which is on the
right part of the Bengaluru-Pune highway.
The large vehicles carrying goods to the APMC
yard, while coming from B.H. road, it is necessary
to take ‘U’ turn at this intersection, this will cause

Losses
1.Loss of time:
Since the vehicles are moving in all 3 directions it is
required for the reducing of speed while moving at this
junction, it causes delay for the movements of vehicles.
During peak volume of traffic, it causes overdelay.
2.Loss of fuel:
The traffic volume at this junction is more this will
increase the journey time, and more fuel is consumed
while moving at this junctions because of applying brakes
more times and the vehicles could not move in uniform
speed is uneconomical also.
3.Loss of human:
More traffic volume in all 3 directions at this junction will
cause severe and minor accidents. It may cause the death
or disabilities for the peoples. It is also difficult to the
injured people for the good treatment by paying money to
the hospitals and medicines.
4.Increase in casualties:
Due to large traffic volume and the vehicles are moving
towards all the 3 direction it cause severe accidents and
more number of death, disability of body parts will be
occur at this junction.
Data collection
1.The two intersections at Batawadi are the intersection at
grade which means here all roads which meet at more or
less the same level.
2.These two intersections are unchannalized intersections
which means there is absolutely no restriction to vehicles
to use any part of intersection area.
3.The intersection in front of Mirji petrol bunk is in the
form as shown below and this intersection is
unchannalized intersection at grade and this is the
intersection where more fatal accidents occurred and it is
identified as black spot.
