Section A
1. The curved surface area of a cylinder of height h is 6prh. Find the area of the base.
2. If the radius of a wire is decreased to one-fourth of its original and its volume remains the same,
then how many times will the new length becomes its original length.
3. In DPQR, PS is median and QT is median of DPQS. If ar(DPQT) = 15 cm2, then find the ar(DPQR).

4. The mean of 3, 5, 0, 9, x, 7 and 13 is 7, find the value of x.

5. The mean of marks of 18 students is calculated as 28 (out of 50 marks). Later on it was
discovered that marks of one student were wrongly taken as 43 instead of 34. Find the correct
mean of marks.
6. The following data have been arranged in ascending order 8, 11, 13, 15, (x + 1), (x + 3), 30, 35,
40, 43. If the median of data is 22, find x. If 15 is replaced by 33, find the new median.
7. Find the volume of the largest right circular cone that can be fitted in a cube whose edge is 2a
units.
OR
If the areas of three adjacent faces of a cuboid are x, y, z. Find the volume of cuboid.
8. What other name can be given to a cyclic parallelogram

12. A circle has radius 2 cm. It is divided into two segments by a chord of length 2 cm. Prove that

In figure straight lines AB and CD pass through the centre O of a circle. If ∠OCE = 40º and
∠AOD = 75º, find ∠CDE and ∠OBE.

13. In figure, PQRS and ABRS are parallelogram and X is any point on side BR. Show that

15. In the figure, O is the centre of the circle and ∠ABD = 35°. Find the value of x.

16. Construct a triangle xyz in which xy = 6 cm. ∠x = 60° and yz – xz = 2 cm.


17. The floor of a rectangular hall has a perimeter 250 m. If the cost of painting the four walls at
the rate of `10 per m2 is `15,000, find the height of the hall.
18. The sum of height and radius of the base of a solid cylinder is 37 m. Total surface area of the
cylinder is 1628 m2. Find its volume.
OR
A lead pencil consists of a cylinder of wood with a solid cylinder of graphite filled in the interior.
The diameter of the pencil of 7 mm and the diameter of graphite is 1 mm. If the length of the
pencil is 14 cm, find the volume of the wood and that of graphite.

21. 800 families having 3 children only were surveyed in a backward town and following data were
collected.

22. In a survey of 200 people, it was found that 142 read newspaper daily and rest read newspaper

(a) Find the probability that a person chosen at random.
(i) reads newspaper daily.
(ii) reads newspaper occasionally.
(b) What do you think reading newspaper daily is a good habit or just a waste of time?
23. A heap of wheat is in the form of a cone whose volume and diameter are respectively 1232 m3
and 14m. The heap is to covered by canvas to protect it from rain. Find the area of the piece
of canvas required assuming that all the stitching margins and the wastage incurred while
cutting amounts to approximately 1 m2.

At a Ramzan mela, a stall keeper in one of the food stalls has a large cylindrical vessel of
base radius 15 cm filled upto a height of 32 cm with orange juice. The juice is filled is small
cylindrical glasses of radius 3 cm up to a height of 8 cm, and sold for `12 each. How much
money does the stall keeper receive by selling the juice completely?
24. If two intersecting chords of a circle make equal angles with the diameter passing through their
point of intersection, prove that the chords are equal.
25. A right circular cylinder just encloses a sphere. Find the ratio of surface area of sphere and
total surface area of cylinder.
26. If the non-parallel sides of a trapezium are equal, prove that it is cyclic.
27. In figure, ABCD is a quadrilateral and BE||AC and also BE meets DC produced at E. If ar(ABCD)
= 20 sq. cm. Find ar(DADE).

29. You want to burn 100 kilo calories per day. Doctor advised you to workout physcial activities at
the most for 30 minutes. You decided to involve yourself more in home activities for x minutes
and go for walking y minutes a day.
Represent this situation as linear equation algebratically and draw its graph. Also, identify
suitable time to be invested in home activities and walking. [4]
OR
In a household, 5 tubelights of 40 W each are used for x hours and an electric press of 500
W for 4 hours everyday. If ‘W’ watt-hour is total electrical energy consumed by tubelight and
press in a day, then develop the relation between x and ‘W’ and represent this situation as
linear equation algebraically and draw its graph.
30. Two friends A and B both decided to burn up their 200 calories each per day. A decided to go
for running a minutes per day and B decided to go for running up stairs b minutes per day.
Represent both as linear equations algebraically and identify which of them will take less time
to reduce calories. [3]
OR
For a linear equation if the total bill of a house in delhi is `r for a month assuming that the
consumption is of ‘x’ units as per Delhi tariff slabs shown in actual bill.
31. Two friends have examined their BMI, one having BMI 27 and another having BMI 31. However
both of them have equal height of 150 cm. Represent both situations as linear equation
graphically and determine weight of both friends. Also state the health status of both friends.[3]

Observe and mention the difference between the actual bills A and B given in the text.
