By Willis W. Wirthl and Pablo Barreto2

Abstract: Eight new species of Clllicoides biting midges arc wing margin; cell M4 with a large, rounded, pale ,pot in distal
described and figured from material collected during a survey portion and a pale area at base bordering mediocubital fork;
of bloodsucking insects on the Rio Raposo, Valle, Colombia: anal cell with large pale area in distal portion. Macrotrichia
Clllicoides beal'eri, C. dalessandroi, C. eldridgei, C. raposoellsis, C. moderately sparse on distal 1/3 of wing; 2nd radial cell with
sall/Ilar/ini, C. tere/ipalpis, C. traPidoi, and C. yowlgi. moderately broad lumen; CR 0.67 (0.65-0.67, n=12). Halter
moderately infuscated. Abdomen: Pale brown. Spermathecae
From 1962 to 1965 a survey for arboviruses was (FIG. Ic) 2 plus rudimentary 3rd and sc1erotized ring; ovoid
