Germany was blamed responsible for WWI.

What Germany encountered:


Germany lost territory and money, leading to economic
problems and unemployment rates going up.
Germany’s economy was limited and
their air force was taken away from

(June 1919-1939) Long Term Germany also had to pay HUGE reparations.
Germany did not like the fact that they were being treated
unfairly.
They were mad and wanted their land back leading to WWII.
WWI ended with treaties that are very oppressing and one-
sided.
Definition: The Treaty of Versailles was one of
the peace treaties that officially ended the war
between Germany and the Allied Powers.

The Great Depression The Great Depression was a time of economic


struggles and trade became slower throughout the
world due to unpaid reparation payments.
Great Depression and the Rise of Dictatorships This caused high unemployment rates in both Germany and Europe.
1920s Long Term Due to these situations not being able to be solved by the
governments, this created the leading to the Rise of
Dictatorships or Totalitarian Leaders.

Totalitarian leaders were leaders who promised to solve the


economic problems and ruled the states under their own belief.
The Rise of Dictatorships
This lead to them wanting more power and land which was leading to
WWII.

Causes of World War II This is a major cause of WWII because the unstable governments needed a leader.

Definition: The League of Nations was an international


security arrangement that solved problems or kept the peace
between countries instead of going to war.
The League of Nations failed to help the countries that
were in need of help/assistance and caused them to

The League of Nations did nothing when Japan invaded
(1931-1939) Short Term Manchuria in 1931 and when Italy invaded Ethiopia in 1935.
The two aggression lead Germany to rebuild themselves/itself
and developing themselves to become more powerful.
What happened: (Aggression & Failures)
This is a major cause of WWII because it did not stop the war
and it was only benefiting Hitler with his plans with Germany.
Definition: A policy or act of giving in to enemy’s demands in hopes of avoiding conflict.

What happened:
Britain thought that by giving the Nazis what they want and
demanded will keep them from going to war
Appeasement (1935-1939) Short Term
Hitler got things such as “land, control over nations, and freedom to re-militarize.”
What were the consequences: The Appeasement failed because Hitler advanced his army by preparing
them and becoming more power for World War II and for the country
itself.
