ABSTRACT
i
Low Birth Weight (LBW) is one of the serious health problems in
Indonesia. One possible way to reduce LBW is by identifying risk factors that
support the occurrence of LBW. This study aimed to determine the relationship
between hypertension and anemia among pregnant women with the incidence of
BBLR that become two of several risk factors. This research was an analytical
study with the cross sectional approached and total sampling method, the total
sample of 116 pregnant womens. Data analysis used Chi Square test. P-value
<0,05 was considered statistically related. The results showed that there was
relationship of hemoglobin level (anemia) in pregnant woman with the incidence
of low birth weight that is p = 0,02 with OR 2,64 also there is correlation of blood
pressure (hypertension) in pregnant woman with the occurrence of low birth
weight that is p value = 0,034 with OR 2,74 which means pregnant women who
are anemic and hypertensive have a 3 times greater risk of delivering low birth
weight babies than pregnant women without anemia and hypertension. Based on
the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between
hemoglobin levels and maternal blood pressure to low birth weight infants at Cut
Meutia General Hospital North Aceh Disrict in 2016.
