Development of Home Security Management and Home
Appliances Monitoring Application using Arduino

III. DEFINITION OF THE TOPIC:

3.1 Project Context

According to alarm.org “When World War I ended, an increase in crime
followed. As a result, Americans became sensitive to security needs and were eager to
find ways to protect themselves and their property. Additionally, many insurance
companies began offering premium discounts to alarm subscribers. These events
produced a consumer demand for alarm systems.”

Alarm system play a vital vote in society in managing security various inventors
are introduced to the public like CCTV’s and more, but these faces lapses like not
recognizing audios and it can easily be manipulated.

In a separate research, according to PNP Marilao there are 42 cases of theft

reported from different parts of Marilao , The researcher believes that thought the aid of
technology, especially Arduino, The incident can be lessen by half. And also according to
Bureau of the Fire Protection Marilao one of the cause of fire are electrical short circuit
and electrical overloading.
 The researchers believed that through the use of ISafe application, this number of
incident can be reducing in half.

3.2 Objectives of the Study

1.1.1 General Objective of the Study

The general objective of the study is to develop an application that

will monitor the security of properties at home.

1.1.2 Specific objectives of the Study

The study aims to achieve the following:

1.) To develop an application that will detect any movement and notify
the user/owner in real-time.
2.) To design an application that will capable of managing an appliance in
home through the use of Arduino.
3.) Create an application that will allow the user to monitor his/her
property through CCTV’s.

3.3 Purpose and Description

The study and the system will be beneficial to the following:

1.3.1 Owner

The Home Security and Appliances Monitoring Application will

help the owner to monitor the appliances even if he/she is outside their
home as long as there an internet connection.

1.3.2 Researcher

The study can serve as their reference and guidelines for the future
researcher. They can also improve and enhance the capabilities of this
application.
3.4 Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The user must create an account together with the cellphone

number before accessing the ISafe application to ensure that he/she is the
only one that allows using this application.

The ISafe application allows the user to manipulate the appliances

that is connected/install in the arduino device by turning ON and OFF the
button on the user’s phone as long as there is an internet connection The
user can then check for the motion in the area urgently. CCTV is viewable
via internet and if there is no internet interruption, you can view CCTV via
mobile data.

Once the device detected a suspicious motion, It will notify the

user using sms notification that is” Someone moving in your home. Do
you want to view it?” if the users choose the YES button, he/she will
redirect to the real-time view to his/her home. And if NO, it will be close.

The application ISafe is delimited to Windows operating system

and IOS, this only runs on android devices with the jellybean specification
and above, it only runs and notify the user if he/she is connected the
internet or data connection and it can only monitor the appliances with
installed aduino device.
