Abstract:
Stress is determined as integral part of anyone’s life. Stress is a scientific problem of our times
and affects both physical as well as mental health people. The main objectives of the study is the stress
management in the nationalized banks how they managed the stress and also covers various factors such
as work pressure, time management, customer interaction, basic amenities, conflict between colleagues,
target pressure, physical health problems etc. The study also analyse that more than two third of banking
personnel they would considered quitting their jobs within the next year if stress levels do not improve,
two out of five of every five banking executives describes their job as extremely stressful. The study
conclude that how to overcome the above problems the banking personnel do not have the power to
change the situation but they can manage the stress by changing have a work force, It would be
particularly interesting to carry out longitudinal studies to identify changes in the level and incidence of
problems. and increasing understanding of organizational stress.

INTRODUCTION :
Stress is a universal phenomenon and now –a-days no organization can claim to be stress free .Every job
is challenging and more verydemanding.it requires high standard of performance, high quality in work
and expectation fulfilled. Every employee is forced to have a stressful and hectic lifestyle if he fails to
meet, he faces stress and other psychological problems. it effects human body which gives rise to tension,
anxiety depression and anger. the united nations international labour organization as defined
occupational stress as “Global Epidemic”.
Need For Study :
It is the major problems of human resources it can be motivates they have personal and organisational
structure will be changes of psychological and mental practises. Stress has become an inevitable element
of our lives. Managing stress is vital for ensuring better result and success in your professional life…..
stress management can take different forms like dealing with the cause of stress to burning off its effect.
Research methodology
The different aspects of research methodology are highlighted as follows.
Data collection
The analysis of project was done based on the available information gathered basically from the primary
source as well as secondary sources
Primary data: The primary data was collected through mutual discussion with the employees and also
through formal talk with the concerned officials of the bank.
Secondary data: The secondary data was collected from existing data through sources like text books,
periodicals, newspapers.
Geographical area :The geographical area Selected for this study is HOSADURGA OF
CHITRADURGA where the survey was conducted on 5 banks pertaining to nationalized bank sectors
banks such as SBI- Vijaya Bank- -Corporation Bank- Syndicate Bank – and Canara Bank.
Sampling type: The sampling method used was simple random, technique that includes each and every
item combination has an equal and independent chance and eliminating personal factors. The sample
Population belongs to 23-60 years age distribution.
Statistical tools:
Chi-square test’ and ‘percentage method’ were the main tools used for data -analysis, represented by bar
charts and pie diagrams.
Limitation of the study
The survey was limited to the nationalized banks only hosadurga
Personnel policies may be varied in nature
The information provided may be biased to some extent.
Review of literature
Research on job stress has long emphasized the importance of recognizing the performance implications
of decision under stress. Job stress has fuelled a significant, multifaceted literature.
Sharma Pooja and hemalatha (2014): conclude that-the banking mirrors larger economy its
linkages to all sector make it proxy for what is happening in the economy as a whole. Banking
plays a silent yet crucial role in our day to day economy . the data is taken form financial reports
of both the banks for lost five years ranging form 2008-09 to 2013. the results depicts that ICICI
Bank is performing better than SBI bank as it is able to generate more loans from its deposits to
the costumers.
D.Mahila Vasanthi, PSalini. K. T (2016) on the basis of the profitability of commercial banks
with special reference to selected five banks in India and evaluate the productivity of selected
commercial banks in India. They measure and compare the relative profitability of selected banks
with respect to selected parameters during the study period 2010-2011 to 2014-2015.

with respect to CRAMEL and factors determining the profitability and present the findings and
offer suitable suggestions to improve the profitability of the Public Sector Banks
Stress is derived from the Latin word ‘stringer’. which means to be drawn tight? . It is the way we
react physically mentally and emotionally to the various conditions, changes and demands of life.
The events or conditions in our environment that trigger stress are called ‘stressor’. Stressors are
of two types namely – proactive stressors and systematic stressors. Proactive stressors represent
immediate reactions to sudden threat, challenge or fear. In such situations,

from the above table it is evident that 39.28% of the employees have more than ten years work
experience, followed by 35% for one and four year, the remaining are 13.57% for four and ten years and
12.14% for less than a year.

INTERPRETATION :
58% of the employees feel that there is highest freedom and flexibility in their institution, followed by
38.57 % for normal and 2.85 % for least freedom and flexibility
Stress reduction ways followed by the employees
Interpretation
the above table shows that the top rated stress – reduction ways followed by employees are
Yoga/meditation and the least rated are Stress handling sessions- Pursuing hobbies- Taking leave from
work music/games/cinema, Talking with friends,
Findings :
Majority of the employees feel more stress due to intensity of work pressure and deadlines, levels of
targets to be achieved and excessive work load.
62% of the employees experienced the symptoms of stress as anxiety – hypertension – irritable
behaviour – muscle ache etc.
70 % of employees follow stress –reduction ways such as music/games/cinema, talking with a friend,
yoga or meditation etc. .
Improper maintenance of manpower may lead to excessive work load
Suggestions :
Maintain employee skills recognition, welfare, reward systems properly
Effective maintenance of dispute settlement and grievances handling.
Effective communication system should be maintained
Provide healthy organizational culture to retain talented employees
Conduct stress –awareness programs on a regular basis
Provide effective performance appraisal and feedback
Conduct regular training programs to create confidence
CONCLUSION
The research on ‘stress management techniques in banking sector in Nellore Corporation –AP’ reveals the
factors that cause stress on both the individual and the organizational and the probable measures to handle
stress, vital for the well being of productive employees.

Stress produces numerous physical and mental symptoms which vary according to each individual's
situational factors. These can include physical health decline as well as depression.
The process of stress management is named as one of the keys to a happy and successful life in modern
society.
