ED 312A - Case Study 2 - Standards and Assessments

Unit:​ Animation 1
Class:​ 1st year Arts & Comm/Digital Media

Unit Summary:
The Animation Unit introduces the student to the animation industry, reviews the history of
animation and where it is today, explores the different types, methods, and uses of animation,
and challenges the student to create their own animation using industry software.

Unit Rationale:
The Animation unit is the 4th unit in the 1st year Arts & Communication course and by now
students have expressed their interests and their background and development are coming
into focus. Students have class experience working with Photoshop and Illustrator and are
becoming skilled in learning new software. Students also have some class experience
learning and applying design principles. The unit will allow the student to further develop their
technical and design skills.
