PROS
+
Minimize Interruptions

n  Use hand signals to minimize interruption in the classroom.

+
Morning Meetings
n  The beginning 15 minutes of class every morning have
Morning Meetings, talk about anything and everything for a
chance to get to know your students, peers and teacher
better. Getting to know each other better helps students feel
comfortable to talk about their issues and feelings, and they
learn to respect their teacher.
+
Count Seconds
n  Counting Seconds works like a charm. When students
misbehave and are not following classroom rules and
activities start counting seconds that they will be losing from
lunch or recess. If they waste 30 seconds of precious
classroom time then they will need to stay in extra at recess
or lunch to make up the seconds.

CONS
+
Silent Classroom

n  The Video suggests running a silent classroom where

students don’t have the freedom to yell out answers. I don’t
agree with this, as teacher we need to keep the students
engaged by allowing them to participate in the classroom or
else they will get bored very easily and lose interest.
+
Making the Popular Kid an
Example
n  The video suggests making the popular kid an example for
everyone else to follow. I don’t agree with this for two
reasons. One, it is not politically correct to chose who is
popular and who is not, because children who don’t consider
themselves popular might be negatively impacted by this
which will cause them to have lower self esteem. Two, they
popular kid will start to think that he is untouchable and
everything that he says or does goes.
+
Singling Out Students

n  The video suggest putting a post it

note on a child's desk who keeps
interrupting and walking by and
adding a tally mark every time he
or she interrupts the class. After
the lesson is done, you take the
student out and show them how
many times they irrupted you in
class. I don’t agree with this
strategies because singling out a
child and calling him outside in
front out all of his peers would
embarrass him and cause him to
act out even more.
