Introduction: In today’s world, we are controlled and run by technology. We always

use our phones, computers, and tablets to perform our everyday tasks. It’s gotten to a point

where we even rely on it for handling our data, handling bank transactions, and providing

security so that no one can steal that information. The paper industry the past decade or so,

has surely taken a toll due to the influx of technological design innovations. People even rarely

send postcards anymore. Although this is sad, these things tend to happen because we evolve,

adapt, and overcome as people. This has since made things easier in many ways for people, and

has taken complicated tasks, and minimized them. Not only this, but businesses nowadays

almost entirely rely on printers, faxing, emailing, etc. To help with communication, and sales to

run the company. This can also help with loss prevention such as connecting an IP security

camera to catch any would-be thieves. In order to connect this IP camera, we will need a

network for our business to be implemented. This would also include having a router, and a

switch. This wouldn’t just be useful for a camera, put our point of sales system to make sales,

and purchases.

There’s a small, and new company out there called “Draper Tech” that is trying to currently

build their infrastructure, and influence the surrounding community of Delaware to be more

technology innovative, and friendly, while also teaching the people who haven’t exactly

overcome the technological curve how it can improve their lifestyle completely. Draper Tech

has around 20 employees. This would include loss prevention associates, cashiers, and also the

people we get to demo our latest technology to customers.

Planning: In order to get the business operations started, a blueprint has to be made of

the interior of the store in order to get a full understanding of the store layout, so that a fast,

efficient, redundant, and also customer friendly network can be implemented. For the tech that

will also be on the network, our network display tables will have approximately 2 pcs, 2 tablets,

and 2 phones on their own tables, so that any customer can come in, and play with the product

before purchasing it. My plan while designing the layout is to use a star-like topology with

whatever devices I can still hardwire with. Many of these devices are going to be wireless

capable, so I can take advantage of that so there’s no so many wires being ran through the

store, and that the customer doesn’t trip on anything. I decided for any of the desktops, and

laptops I would be running the latest update of Windows 10. Pretty much because it’s easy to

use, and many people are already used to that Operating System. Any of the customer files will

be handled through storage on a Windows Server 2012 server. This will be great for

bookkeeping, and record keeping for the customer. I will also have both a 2911 router, and a

cisco switch for the network for all the computers, laptops, tablets, etc in the store to connect

to. I’ll have added security on them also, so that there’s no intruders on the network messing

with a customer’s experience.

Conclusion: All in all, there will be some constraints, and obstacles to overcome setting

up this tech shop, such as the financial side, and the clientele we hope to have, but this is a

good idea, and a great proposition to anyone in the area of the store to check it out, and

possibly buy some technology that they have been seeking from the store.
