Standards:
MGSEK.G.1 Describe objects in the environment using names of shapes, and describe the relative positions of these
objects using terms such as above, below, beside, in front of, behind, and next to.
Assessment
Assessment Strategy:
There will be a game at the end of the lesson that students must draw the correct shape and place in the correct
position. This will measure if they know the shapes and comprehend the position direction.

Where can I put different shapes?
Steps in the Lesson
Attention Getter or Hook:
I will pull up the PowerPoint presentation and ask students what they think the lesson is about.
Introduction:
Today, we will be learning about shapes and positions that they can have.
Instructional Strategies:
1. Teacher will go through PowerPoint that has been prepared (pictures of slides attached)
2. Teacher will pull sticks to have students come up and click the board and answer comprehension questions
3. Teacher will be clarifying anything with shapes (this should be review) as well as with the positions by
giving real examples in the classroom if students are showing unsuccessful in the examples
4. When examples and explanations are done, teacher will use promethean board to use a spinner for
students to use to spin for positions or shapes to either draw or place.
5. After some practice with the spinners, teacher will organize a game- boys vs. girls

Closure/Wrap up: (Describe how the CONTENT of the lesson will be summarized.)
- Teacher will initiate congratulations to the winning group and have losing group give high fives.
- “So today we talked about shapes and different positions they have. We will continue talking about this
next week and do some worksheets about it. Go ahead back to your desk to get ready for science.”
