Growth Trajectory Reflection

Throughout my 4 years in High School at HPIAM I have changed and grown a lot as a

student and as a person. For example, as a freshman I was a procrastinator. As I procrastinator I

would leave every homework, or assignment at the last minute. I would also turn in late work or

work on the homework the day is due in class. By being a procrastinator it was affecting my

grades a lot, and my sister saw how I was struggling. My sister would see how I would always

procrastinate and she advised me that in college they wouldn’t tolerate this kind of behavior.

Her advised made me realize how different college is because we are giving more opportunities

in high school and in college they wouldn’t tolerate this behavior. As I reached senior year I

believe that I evolved as a person because instead of being a procrastinator I’m a diligent person.

I do things differently now because I do my homework every day, study frequently, and I don’t

turn in late work. I would continue to be a diligent student when I go to college.

In addition, another example that shows that I have grown as a person and as a student

would be communication skills. For example, in my freshman year I had poor communication

skills. I was more of a close-minded person by keep my thoughts and ideas to myself. I would

never participate in class and I would get really nervous when we would do presentations.

My first Interdisciplinary project was bad because I didn’t know how to articulate my ideas, keep

eye contact with the panelist, and I would stutter by repeating the same thing more than once.

My communication skills improved ever since we kept working on IDP which I started to

communicate more with others. This experience has changed me because as a senior I have good

communication skills. I collaborate with others, more open-minded, and I participate more in

class. Having good communication skills can help me be more social with people in college or in

jobs.

Furthermore, this proves that I have grown throughout high school year. For example,

when I was a freshman, I was unorganized meaning that I had papers all over the place. I never

knew were my stuff were and I would put all the assignments in one binder and eventually

confuse it with other classes homework and assignments. Since I was so messy I could not find

any of my papers so I would miss deadlines which would affect my grade. Some teachers at

HPIAM made me realize that I should always be organized because being unorganized could

affect me in the future. As I reached senior year I have changed because now I’m an organized

person. My binder is organized because I have different color dividers for each of my classes.

Since I’m organized my homework or classwork are not wrinkled and I don’t have to worry

about losing any important papers anymore which shows that I’m prepared. Having your

materials organized will help you keep up with your classes in college or in work which it would

make my life easier instead of struggling.
