Lesson Plan in Arts 1

I.Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the Grade 1 pupils should be able to:
1. Enumerate the shapes that were mentioned in the song.
2. Sort the different objects to its corresponding shape.
3. Share the importance of knowing the shape of objects that we see everyday.

II. Subject Matter: Shapes of everday objects

III. Materials
- YouTube video
- laptop
- “I Spy” printable card
(The “I Spy” printable card link can be found under the Techear Resources tab on our website)
- worksheet about shapes of everyday objects

IV. Lesson Proper


A. Motivation
- Let pupils sing to the song: “Shapes are all Around” by Pinkfong
(YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJhfl5vdxp4)

B. Presentation
- Give the motive question: “Have you every wondered what are the shapes of the objects
we see everyday?”

C. Development of the lesson


1. Ask students to recall the shapes that were mentioned in the song.
2. Distribute “I Spy: Scavenger Hunt” printables to the students.
3. Explain the mechanics of the game.
4. Tell students that they have seven minutes to look for those objects.
5. After seven minutes, call some students to share how many objects did they find.
6. Ask students to share their experience and feeling while doing the scavenger hunt.
7. Ask students what were the different objects they saw during the hunt and its
shape.

D. Generalization
- Click the link of ABCya! Shape Match: (http://www.abcya.com/shape_match.htm)
- Explain to the students the description of the game.
- Call students to answer the game by sorting the word to its correspoding shape.

E. Evaluation
- Ask what are examples of geometric shapes discussed during the session.
- Ask some students the importance of learning the shapes of overyday obejcts that we see.
- Let students answer the prepared worksheet about shapes of everyday objects.

V. Assignment
- Bring short bond paper, glue, and cut-out pictures of different geometric shapes next meeting.
