Multimodal Rhetoric

My final portfolio weebly website has come together very nicely over the past few

months, and displays my research and work efficiently, and I think it looks aesthetically

pleasing. The theme I chose was one that was simple, but effective enough to showcase all of my

work and descriptions. My theme is also black, white, and light blue. Some of my fonts and

backgrounds are the same color light blue, since I thought it looked aesthetically pleasing with

the black and white pictures. All of the pictures on my website are colorless because they are

photographed from the 1960’s and 1970’s, which is the years the Vietnam War was going on. All

of my pictures are also pictures of American civilians from anti-war protests. I did not want to

post pictures of the actual War, since most of them were quite vulgar. Also the anti-war protest

pictures all have multiple signs in them that say messages about what the public was feeling

about the War. Other elements included was my slideshow I made about my topic in the

beginning of the semester. The slideshow helps the audience understand actually what was

happening during the war and how it shaped the public’s opinion.

As I was making my website, I did take into account what it should look like if other

people not from my class decided to go on it. I included the intro on the home page so that
visitors can know what my research and site are about. That is where I added my slideshow as

well. I also included descriptions of all my work and assignments at the top of each page so

everyone can read what my essays are specifically about, and they can decide if they want to

read them or not. My essays include my research proposal, my argumentative essay, and my

proposal essay. For each essay, I included my final draft at the top and the instructor draft below

it. At the top of my site, I have tabs that the audience can click to see them. My other tabs are for

my home page, blog, multimodal rhetoric, reflective statement, and my annotated bibliographies.

Other tabs I have are for my blog, annotated bibliographies, and my reflective statement. To

upload each of my writings onto my site, I used a tool called “Scribd” which allowed me to

upload each essay directly and the audience can read it right there. I thought that was more

convenient than clicking a link. For my blog page, I deviated from the black and white theme a

bit. I did that because I feel like since the blog is about my personal experiences, it should have

more of what I personally like. So because of that, the header picture is a pretty alleyway with

some plants, and I copied and pasted some suns in the title of my posts.

Overall, I believe my weebly came out very nice and very easy for viewers to get around.

The colors generally stay the same on each page of the website, I have included all of my work,

and have included various kinds of pictures and texts. If someone not from my class came across

my page, I am confident that they will understand what it is about.
