Work Scenario

In order to complete my project for my dream job, I must create and plan a meeting in
which I educate and discuss a sustainability issue to a group of high school students. I must
have an interactive plan that engages these young adolescents while presenting the facts. In
order to do so, I will be creating a PowToon video, a live poll, and an infographic presentation.
For the first technology, I will be using PowToon to clearly define my sustainability
challenge of water use. PowToon is great in that it offers many templates designed around
educational purposes and helps lay out a foundation for topics in a short, concise, yet
informative way. Due to this, the end product will be a 2-3-minute video highlighting the issues
surrounding water use in cities, as well as common uses in the household and everyday
activities.
For the second technology, I will be using Poll Everywhere as a resource to gain insight
on how the students perceive water use and their role in water availability. The use of a live poll
will help me in creating a source of data as well as showing the students, in real-time, how they
collectively impact water in their area. The end product should resort in the students being
more actively engaged by participating in my presentation, along with having numbers that
directly represent my audience.
For my final technology, I plan to use an infographic to display the overall results and
talking points of our discussion. Considering the age group of my audience, I think this form of
information is more useful and valuable because it is easy to tune out a long presentation.
Therefore, my audience will still be engaged enough to relate to and more thoroughly
understand a brief poster. The end product thus being an infographic with the issues regarding
water use and ways in which the students can reduce their waste.
Overall, the use of these three technologies will help to create a presentation that
students can relate to, become participants in, and take away useful practices that they can
then share with others. By using these technologies, students are more exposed to different
types of presentation tools, that are fun, easy to use, and overall educational. This end product
will help to exposing young leaders to sustainability issues that will affect themselves and
generations to come. This is impactful in that they will be more familiarized with ways they can
directly impact their own future and how to communally come up with solutions.
