ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING:

Students will understand that:

1. Oxygen serves as essential element in supporting life.

2. Individual are unique because of genes.

3. We need biodiversity to satisfy basic needs.

4. The sun is the ultimate source of energy

ESSENTIAL QUESTION/S:

1. Why we need Oxygen?

2. What makes each person unique?

3. Why is biodiversity important?

4. Why is sunlight necessary in photosynthesis?

STAGE 2: PRODUCT/PERFORMANCE

Create their own design of T-shirt about proper care of Respiratory and Circulatory System

TRANSFER GOAL

Students will in their own will conduct an interview with school nurse or local health workers on
practices that promote proper care for the organs of the circulatory and respiratory system.

TRANSFER TASK (GRASPS)

G- Your goal is to demonstrate proper care of the circulatory and respiratory system.

R- You are a interviewer

A- Students and teachers

S- The school celebrating its annual Health Week. One of the activities during this celebration is to give
seminar awareness on the proper care of circulatory and respiratory system. During the seminar there will
be special number to be presented.

Product/ Performance: Promote a proper care of Respiratory and Circulatory System

Standards- You product/performance will be evaluated based on criteria:

1. Clarity of information
2. Originality and creativity
STAGE 3: LEARNING PLAN
EXPLORE
Pre-assessment task:
Ask the following question to the students:
1. What is Oxygen?
2. Cite known functions of the Respiratory and Circulatory System?
3. Why we breathe?

ACTIVITY NO. 1: Video Viewing about Breathing

Source Code: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kacMYexDgHg&t=253s

Follow up question will then answer by students every lesson.(Genyo e-Learning)

FIRM – UP

ACTIVITY NO. 2: CONCEPT MAPPING

ACTIVITY NO. 3: VIDEO PRESENTATION OF THE FUNCTIONS OF CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
PROCESS QUESTIONS:
1. What are veins?
2. What are the Physiology of Circulation?

DEEPEN

Lesson Proper:
1. What are the Functions of the blood? And its components
2. What are the functions of each components and its cells?
3. What are the functions of the heart?
4. What are the anatomical parts of the heart?
5. How does the blood carried out throughout the body?
ACTIVITY NO. 4: Dissection of Apologia human analog.
1. Visually identify the parts of the Heart from its major artery, valves and veins.
Note: Apologia human analog can be a fetal pig.
((ALTERNATIVE))
1. If in case of religion or any other reasons Apologia human analog cannot be performed
Virtual Dissection can be performed.

ACTIVITY NO. 5: DISCUSSION: Parts and Functions of Respiratory System

1. What are the components of Lower and Upper Respiratory Tract?
2. Let the students draw and label the parts and functions of Respiratory System
3. Explain the Parts and Functions of the Respiratory System

ACTIVITY NO. 5 : CYBER-SCIENCE

1. Ask the students to research on possible diseases of the respiratory and circulatory system
2. Present how much is the mortality rate of all respiratory and circulatory system in the Phil.
3. Present their work in a Power Point using animated programs.

ACTIVITY NO. 6: The DNA Molecule

Focus Points:
1. Describe the structure of DNA.
2. Familiarize with the pattern of base pairing molecule.

ACTIVITY NO. 7: Lesson Discussion of Structure and Functions of DNA and RNA
Focus Questions:
1. How do DNA molecules function?
2. How does the DNA synthesize proteins?
3. How do mutations cause changes to the structure of protein?
4. How would you describe the three processes of producing protein from DNA.
5. How can you determine whether or not your skin cells meet essential amino acids
needed by the body?

ACTIVITY NO. 8: Pamphlet Making

 Students are ask to make a pamphlet on how to take good care of children
with genetic disorders.
ACTIVITY NO. 8.5: DNA MODEL:
 In groups of 3, create a DNA structure with the use of 8:2inch popsickle sticks,
steel wire. Wire cutters and glue-gun.

ACTIVITY NO. 9: Timeline Presentation on the Origin of Species

Focus Questions:
1. How does evolution produce different structures of species?
2. How can the theory of Natural Selection affect the present generations?
3. How does the process of natural selection affect speciation and extinction of
species?
4. How can man protect species from extinction?
TRANSFER

ACTIVITY NO. 10: Campaign on Taking Good care of the Reproductive system

Students will in their own will perform a good campaign on how to take good care of a
Reproductive System to have a healthy life.
