Name Kyran James Walker
Your Project Title Deiseal Punk WW2 weaponry by Kyran James Walker
Pathway (Preferred Media ‘specialism’):

Level 1 media- Level 2 media- Game Design

Section 1: Project Rationale (approx. 100 words)

Since starting the course in September, What do you know now, and what does it mean to you, (compared with what you knew and could do
before you started the course). How does what you know now influence your choice of pathway and your project proposal?

Since September I have learned how to 3D model using Maya. I have learned the basics of how to program in unity.
How to make an effective game level and how to create and edit sounds for games. Before starting this course I knew
some of the basics on how and what makes an effective game level as well as have some knowledge on the game
industry works. But thanks to what I have learned I now know a lot more than what I used to. With the thing I have
learned this means that I now know that I will want to do modelling for my FMP. This is due to the information I have
learned and the resource available to me this has influenced me towards doing 3D modelling as my FMP instead of
the other aspects of game design.

Section 2 Project Concept: (approx. 200 words)

Clearly explain the concept and aims of your project and the context, research and ideas that will support its development . What are the
historical, economic, social, mass media, cultural, political influences? What is it you want to communicate and who is your audience?
What access will you need to workshops, how will you use independent study?
The aims of my project is to create a deiseal punk set of weaponry set in a WW2 style. The context behind this decision
was that I felt personally that deiseal punk was an under used genre of game with Wolfenstein being the only example
of popular media that I can think of. The concept of my project was to create a set of Deiseal punk style WW2
weapons. To be specific I will be creating 3 ranged weapons [Guns and Anti-vehicle weapons] and 1 melee weapon
[Shovels, Knifes, Maces etc.] The research that will be supporting my project will historical records of WW2 both allied
and axis. Research in other types of media that similar to my project and research in to how WW2 Guns were made
and the components that they use. The historical influences here are both World Wars snice the genre of deiseal punk
is set in the WW1/WW2 era. The mass media influences are the game Wolfenstein since it is the most well know game
that is in the same genre as my project. I do not have a message that I wish to convey with my project. My audience
will be people that enjoy the game Wolfenstein and people that also agree that deiseal punk is an underutilized
genre. I will be needing assess to a computer with Maya and Photoshop installed on it in order to create my project. I
will independent study to my advantage by make sure I am present for all of my SOL lessons and using them to my
benefit.

Section 3 Evaluation and Reflection: (Approx 50 words)

Explain how you will reflect on, and evaluate your work, as both an on-going activity and at the conclusion of the project. You should describe
how you intend to record your decision making and how you will document changes to your ideas as work progresses. The evaluation should
be referred back to your aims. It must be reflective (‘why? Because?’) and analytical rather than a description of actions completed.

I will be keeping a project journal that I will use to keep a record of what happen during work, any issued that arises
and how I overcame those issues. I will also be making note of how efficient and effective my solutions were. In this
journal there will be a section where I will go over what my strengths were and what my weakness were. Finally there
will be screenshots and video journals that will be used when the main part of my project starts.

Section 4: Research Sources and Bibliography

Record the initial research sources, both primary and secondary, that you intend to use. Your sources of research should be as wide as
possible, including libraries, museums, galleries, journalism, articles, media, galleries, books, film/video, magazines, TV/radio
programmes, web sites etc.

To begin with I will be using wiki to get a brief overview of oh WW2 guns were made and used. Then I will use the game
Wolfenstein to gather weapon ideas. I will be interviewing people that are well versed in WW2 weaponry. I will also be
visiting a museum about WW2. I will also be watching YouTube channels like this
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqfpxqIK8VY&list=PL9e3UCcU00TQE7TL_wzxz3ZnX-Yt2Tneg] in order to do
research.
