Personal Statement

During my junior year 2018 I didn’t pass a class. The class that I didn’t pass was chemistry.

I didn’t pass that class because I didn’t do all my homework or some assignments. All this

affected me so much that my grade started to decrease and I got an “F” during my second

semester. The semester was almost over and I wanted to turn in all my late assignments, but it

was too late. My teacher didn’t let me turn in the late work. Those are the reasons I didn’t pass

my chemistry class.

First, when the second semester started I was lazy, and didn’t pay attention in the class.

Then, when the class started my friend and I begin to talk, and we failed to listen to the

instructions of my teacher. Another thing in my second semester of chemistry was that I did not

do all my work or I turned late. That situation make my grade go lower. I think I did all these

things because at night, I go to sleep late, and then the next day, I don’t want to do anything.

Also, I don’t understand too much that class.

When I receive my grades, I checked my chemistry class, and I got an “F”. I felt so sad, but

at the same time, I felt bad. I talked with my teacher too see if I could get an opportunity to

make up all my work, but it was too late. She told me that she’s not going to accept any late

work. I asked her if she could give me extra credit, and she gave us extra credit, but it didn’t help

me so much. Then, my counselor talked with me and told me that I needed to come to summer

school to take the class again.

 When school started I felt embarrassed because I thought I was going to be the only one at

Hpiam who was going to take the chemistry class. When I entered the class I changed my mind,

and felt a little bit better because there were classmates from HPIAM. When the teacher assigned

us our first assignment it was to easy for me. I also like how she explained the work because I

understood better. If I didn’t understand, I asked her for help. Days past, and I understood more.

I started to do all my homework. I also started to get good scores on my exams. I did my

assignments better. I was able to pass the class with a “C”.

In conclusion I think I did badly during my junior year because I didn’t pass my chemistry

class. Then when I took it again in summer school, I felt good because finally, I passed the class.

I learned from this experience that it’s better if you do all your homework and assignments on

time during the year. Then, you don’t need to take the class again. You can have a good fun

vacation without coming to summer school.
