I’m currently working in a bidding process for an Oil & Gas Company located in Perú for several
dosing units.

With that into perspective and taking into account all the project specifications we are looking for
an international supplier for Safety Relief Valves

It’s important to mention that all requested valves must meet high international standard such as
API and ASME. But I would say that the following codes, norms are priority.

 API RP 520 PT I - Sizing, Selection, and Installation of Pressure-Relieving Devices in

Refineries; Part I - Sizing and Selection
 API STD 526 - Flanged Steel Pressure Relief Valves
 API STD 527 - Seat Tightness of Pressure Relief Valves

The valves need the meet or exceed all the standard stated and have to be tested in
compliance with those rules and also all the valves requested need to be flanged and rating
according to design pressure (indicated below).

Here you will find a table/Picture with the requested valves with additional information such as
area, pump tags, fluid, temperatures, pressure, pump connections, compatible materials and
the amount of API Safety Valves requested.

A brief personal comment: API Relief Valves are kind of new to me so I’m not sure how to size
or select one. The only thing I could find is that for API 526 valves, the smallest orifice is named
“D” and the connections are 2”x1” (Inches). I could not find any smaller size. As you can see
most of our pumps flange connections are ½” and so the piping size system is. So, my request
for you is to clarify this doubt and select the best and optimum relief valves that meets the
requirements according to the data provided. If there is no option but to select a bigger
connection size to meet the requirements so be it no problem with that but I hope you can size
valves that match our piping size connections.

Podrás ver los flujos, la presión, el diámetro de conexión de la bomba y la temperatura de
trabajo. Respecto al material recomendado considerar el indicado en la tabla (fue sacado del
piping class + los MSDS).

Me gustaría ver la viabilidad de utilizar válvulas API con conexiones bridadas más pequelas a
las 1D2. Sin embargo, desconozco si esto es posible.

A su vez, el cliente también solicita amortiguadores de pulsaciones que cumplan el standard

API, pero no me consta que nro de estandar es. Si conoces algo, me puedes indicar si manejas
este tipo de información y si te es posible ofertarla.

De todas maneras me interesa mas, las valvulas de alivio segun las cantidades solicitadas.
Evaluar el tamaño en funcion a los datos indicados.
