INDIAN SOMMELIER
CHAMPIONSHIP 2010
Competition time is back on the block and, rest assured, will get hotter by every passing day.
The yearly affair of Indian Sommelier Championship is calling the super noses and palates of
India to display their talismanic charm. After the success of the 1st and the 2nd Indian Sommelier
Championship, Wi-Not Beverage Solutions Pvt Ltd, in association with Tarsus Group Plc and the
International Food & Drink Expo India 2009, brings to you the Indian Sommelier Championship
2010.

India’s first French certified sommelier Magandeep SINGH will train & judge aspiring wine
professionals on the art of becoming a Sommelier. On the Armageddon, a panel of discerning
international judges will look for much finer details before declaring the sharpest winos of the
nation.

It’s easy. The candidates need to simply fill up the questionnaire below, clip along the completed
entry form along with the entry fee and courier it to:

The shortlisted candidates will then be informed. They will be required to compete, live on
stage, in front of a panel of eminent judges, on 3 December at the International Food & Drink
Expo India 2010

INDIAN SOMMELIER CHAMPIONSHIP QUESTIONNAIRE
1. Pen a tasting note for any one of the following wine styles. You may choose any wine
brand and vintage of your choice. (50 words each)

• A Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon (unblended)


• A New World Rosé
• A Bordeaux Blanc

2. Write a short yet structured essay on any one of the following. (300-400 words)

• Wine Culture in India: Are we there yet?


• Wine Cocktails: Next Big Thing!! (Defend)
• My Favourite Wine (Pick one and elucidate)

3. Tell us about your experience in the world of wines so far and how do you see yourself in
wine industry in the next five years? (300-400 words)

4. Pair a non-Indian dish with any three of the following wine explaining why you think it is
the apt match? (50 words each)

• Sauternes
• A red full-bodied Super-Tuscan
• Indian Chenin Blanc
• Pouilly Fumé
• Blanc de Blancs Champagne
• New Zealand Pinot Noir

PS: The above mentioned questions MUST be printed, not hand-


written, with Calibri font with no more than size 12.
RULES & REGULATIONS FOR INDIAN SOMMELIER
CHAMPIONSHIP 2010 (“CHAMPIONSHIP”)
1. How to enter the Indian Sommelier Championship 2010 ("Championship")
• Fill in the entry form and submit it by fax/e-mail/post.
• Full payment must be received with the entry form.
• The submission of entry form by any applicant does not entitle him/her for the participation in
the "Championship".
• The decision of judges shall be final and binding on all applicants. No further claim, refund shall
be entertained thereafter.
• All participants must adhere to the time schedule and other rules and regulation of the
"Championship" as intimated from time to time.

2. Entry Fee
• The payment for the entry fee can be remitted by Demand Draft/Pay order or crossed account
payee cheque in the name of Wi-Not Beverage Solution Pvt. Ltd., payable at New Delhi.
• Once the participation form is reached / accepted, a 100% cancellation fee will be applicable in
the event of withdrawal or cancellation by the participant from the "Championship".

3. Awards
• The decision of judges will be final and binding on all the participants. No further
representation/claim will be entertained thereafter.

4. Exclusion of Liability
• The participants shall not raise any claim whatsoever to the organizer for their participation in
the "Championship".
• The participants accept all risks associated with their participation in the "Championship". The
participants shall not make any claim or demand or take any legal action, whatsoever, against the
organizers, or the facility in which the competition is held, for any loss, damage, or injury
whatsoever caused, to the participants, its officers, employees, agents or their property.

5. Indemnity
• The participants agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the organisers, and the facility, their
respective officers, agents and employees, against all claims, costs and charges of every kind
resulting from their participation in the "Championship" or its environs for personal injuries,
death, property damages or any other damages sustained by participant or its officers, agents,
employees or those for whom in law they are responsible, or the organizers.

6. Participant’s Property
• All of the participant's property at the "Championship" shall be at the sole risk of the participant
and the organizers assume no responsibility for loss or damage thereto.
7. Termination Of The Contract
• The organisers may terminate the application of a participant if he / she fails to observe or
perform any of the contract terms and conditions.

8. Force Majure
• The organisers shall not be liable to the participants by reason of any cancellation or delayed
opening of the "Championship" either as a whole or in part, for any non-performance of their
obligations under the contract or for any amendment or alteration to all or any of the rules &
regulations of the competition, in each case to the extent such occurrence is due to force majure
event.

9. Governing Law And Jurisdiction


• This contract shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of India and parties
agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Delhi courts.

10. Right Of Refusal


• The organisers, reserve the right to refuse any application.
