CHAPTER I
PRELIMINARY

1.1. Background
Entrepreneurship in education is an ongoing hard work carried out by the
school especially the headmaster in making the school more qualified. The
concept of entrepreneurship includes efforts to read carefully the
opportunities, see every element of the school institution having something
new or innovative, exploring resources in a realistic way and can be utilized,
controlling risks, realizing benefits and profits. Benefits and profits are
mainly seen for the benefit of students, teachers and principals.
Ideas, willingness and hard work are capital for an entrepreneur. And
money is one of the rewards derived from efforts to realize those ideas.
Capital has an understanding not just about money, passing on the idea itself,
labor, infrastructure / facilities, and all environmental sources that can support
the implementation of business projects. Entrusting educational institutions
does not depart from scratch, but also does not rely too much on loan capital.
Based on this, it is very important for entrepreneurship education in the world
of school, to equip students in navigating the business world that they will run
after they leave school. This paper will be discussed by the shrinking team

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION

2.1. Understanding Entrepreneurship

The term entrepreneurship is often used one after another with the term
entrepreneurship. From the two terms, it can be appreciated that the meaning
of wira means brave or soulless heroism, self-meaning means, effort means
the ways that are done and the meaning stands. So, a school principal who has
the spirit of entrepreneurship is those who have courage, are heroic and
develop independent ways of working.
According to Lupiyodi and Wacik (1998) quoted in the vocational
education management book written by the lecturers of the Indonesian
education university education administration team (2008) stated that indeed
the reality of entrepreneurs is the same as entrepreneurs which is trying hard
to show the qualities of courage, virtue and exemplary risk taking based on
one's own abilities. Even so, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs can be
distinguished, namely entrepreneurship has a vision of business development,
creativity and innovation, while entrepreneurs do not have it.
The term entrepreneurship or entrepreneurship actually leads to an
understanding of foreign terms namely entrepreneurship. Raymond (1995)
cited by Lupiyodi and Wacik (1998) and quoted again in the vocational
education management book written by the lecturer of the Indonesian
education university education team (2008) states that entrepreneurship is the
process of creating something new or innovation in order to obtain welfare or
individual wealth and get added value for the community. Welfare or added
value for the community as a goal of entrepreneurship is carried out through
the disclosure of new ideas, extracting resources, and realizing these ideas
into a profitable reality.

2.2. The Importance of Entrepreneurship Education for Students

The current phenomenon is that there are so many students when they
graduate from school they only want to be an employee, this can be seen from

3
the results of interviews with about 75% of students answering to apply for
jobs, in other words being employees (employees), and only about 4%
answering want to be entrepreneurial, and the rest become employees and
entrepreneurship. This illustrates how the mindset of becoming an
entrepreneur among students is still very small.
From the results of research students find it difficult to want and start
entrepreneurship on the grounds that they are not taught and stimulated to
work on their own, and no less important factor is that there is no or difficulty
in having capital for entrepreneurship, and they are less able and willing to
create their own jobs.
In this case entrepreneurship education (entrepreneurship) is very
important and is expected to be able to create entrepreneurial spirits, so that
they are able to be independent and create jobs that continue to grow every
year. For this reason, the role of education including vocational secondary
schools is needed to constantly build and direct capabilities and the interest of
graduates to move and develop entrepreneurship so that fewer jobs are not a
problem for graduates, because they are able to run their own business.

2.3. Entrepreneurship Development for Students

The strengthening program to encourage entrepreneurship activities and
the acceleration of the growth of new entrepreneurs has been proclaimed by
the government. The Directorate General of Higher Education has developed
a variety of entrepreneurial programs. In 2009, in this case there were many
private companies bridging students entering the real business world through
existing business facilities. On the other hand, systematic extra-curricular
activities of students can also build entrepreneurial motivation and mental
attitude. Student coaching in various activities of interest and talent, science,
welfare or other organizations is able to provide skills for entrepreneurship.
As political figures, the CEO or in the press unit (school newspaper) also
succeeded in becoming an entrepreneur in the publishing industry. For
example students in the cooking team become a creative team selling snacks
and light cakes. Informatics engineering students become graphic design

4
entrepreneurs. Marketing students become marketers in entrepreneurial
products managed by food students. The guidance is able to give birth to
creativity and innovation as the main energy of entrepreneurship. The
experience and economic benefits of the business are used to develop
entrepreneurial spirit among students.

2.4. Entrepreneurship Development in the School environment

Self-development is an educational activity outside of subjects as an
integral part of the school / madrasah curriculum. Self-development activities
are efforts to shape character including entrepreneurial character and
personality of students through counseling services related to personal and
social life issues, learning activities, and career development, as well as extra-
curricular activities.
Self-development is carried out in the form of developing competencies
and habits in the daily lives of students. Self-development aims to provide
opportunities for students to develop and express themselves according to the
needs, potentials, talents, interests, conditions and development of students,
taking into account the condition of the school / madrasah.
Personal development specifically aims to support the education of
students in developing: talent, interest, creativity, competence, and habits in
life, religious life skills, social abilities, learning abilities, insight and career
planning, problem solving skills, and independence. Self development
includes programmed and programmed activities. Programmed activities are
specifically planned and followed by students according to their personal
needs and conditions. Non-programmed activities are carried out directly by
educators and education staff in schools / madrasah that are attended by all
students. In the self-development program, planning and implementation of
entrepreneurship education can be done through integration into the daily
activities of the school, for example the 'business day' activity (bazaar, work
of students, etc.).

5
2.5. Entrepreneurship Education in Building Student Motivation
Motivation is the process of generating, directing and stabilizing the
behavior of a goal. Motivation is the background of individuals doing to
achieve certain goals. Motivation is the willingness of individuals to put forth
various efforts in meeting their needs. Motivation can be observed from the
tensions experienced by individuals, the greater the tension, the higher the
level of effort shown by individuals in achieving their goals. Motivation
comes from the Latin word movere which means encouragement or
movement. The importance of motivation is because motivation is the thing
that causes, channel and support human behavior, so that they want to work
hard and enthusiastically achieve optimal results (Hasibuan, 2005).
In entrepreneurship the role of motivation, especially motivation to
succeed becomes very important. Because in motivation there are a number of
motives that will be the driver (drive / stimulus) of achieving success.
Especially in the entrepreneurial motivation needed fighting power for
success, want to learn to see the success of others, have a strong drive to
overcome all obstacles in entrepreneurship. Because the success of
entrepreneurship is not immediately obtained. That is why for beginners or
seasoned businessmen these mentioned aspects are important to have and
become the capital for success. So, the motive is the driving force in a person
to carry out certain activities in order to achieve certain goals. Because a
number of motives will form a motivation that comes from individual needs.
Therefore, to understand motivation it is necessary to understand various
types of needs.
Students who have a high motivation for entrepreneurship means having
the willingness to succeed in entrepreneurship. With consideration students
have not been actively involved in entrepreneurial activities so it is not
possible to measure their behavior in entrepreneurship and assuming that
entrepreneurship is very close to behavior in the field of entrepreneurship,
then based on the theory and research results described above, it can be
concluded that entrepreneurial motivation affects the attitude of
entrepreneurship.
