Designing a remote connection

You are an administrator with the Contoso Corporation, which has about 1,400 users.
Among those 1,400 users are 400 users who use VPN to connect to the organization�s
network when they are not in the office. However, you realize that you are having
trouble keeping the clients updated and performing other maintenance tasks as
needed because these clients are often not connected to the network. What should
you do?

Implement a Network Policy Servers (NPS) can be used to check the health of
machines attempting to connect to the network and enforce any policies which have
been configured. All machines will be scanned when they attempt to access the
network, if they are lacking updates or patches they will be required to install
those and become compliant before they gain access to the network. An NPS can be
configured as a Network Access Protection (NAP) policy server which will evaluate
Statements of Health (SoH) from domain computers and verify their health and
compliance before access to the network is granted. A NAP policy server will also
act as a radius server and complete the authentication steps for computers trying
to connect.

Standardizing firewall settings

You are an administrator for a corporation that has 1,500 client computers running
Windows 7 and Windows 8. You need to ensure that Windows Firewall is enabled for
all users and that each machine has the same standardized firewall rules. How can
you accomplish this?

Group Policies can be used ensure that firewalls are activated on all PCs within
the domain. The firewall can be turned on via security center located at Local
Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows
Components\Security Center. Firewall rules can be defined and saved to a template
which can then be pushed to all machines on the domain. A Network Policy Servers
(NPS) can be used to check the health of machines attempting to connect to the
network and enforce any policies which have been configured.

Designing and implementing Network Access Protection (NAP)

You are a new administrator for the Contoso Corporation, which is a leading company
in producing smart devices for the home. Your manager has tasked you with devising
a plan that ensures all systems are kept up-to-date with Windows updates and Office
updates and as well as a current anti-virus package. Hint: Besides installing NAP
servers and determining the NAP enforcement method, you also need to determine how
you are going to deploy the updates and anti-virus software.
