DIMENSIONS FOR
PIPE THREADS WHERE PRESSURE-TIGHT
JOINTS ARE MADE ON THREADS
( Third Revision)
( ISO Title: Pipe Threads Where Pressure-Tight Joints are Made on Threads - Part 1:
Designation,. Dimensions and Tolerances)
National Foreword
This Indian Standard (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 7/1-1982 'Pipe threads
where pressure-tight joints are made on threads ~ ParL:! : Designation, dimensions and toleran-
gees', issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Indian
!; Standards Institution on recommendation of the Screw Threads Sectional Committee and approval
;;
,.. of the Mechanical Engineering Division Council.
g This standard was originally issued in 1955 and was revised in 1964 and 1975, the last version
w being based on ISO/R 7 'Pipe threads for gas list tubes and normal fittings where pressure tight
;; joints are required on the threads -1/8 inch to 6 inch' issued by ISO, and on BS 21 'Pipe threads'
g issued by British Standards Institution. This revision oUhe standard has been made by the adop-
.:.: tion of ISO 7/1-1982 to bring it in line with the latest ISO standard
CI!
~ In the adopted standard certain terminology and conventions are not·identical with those used
o,.. in Indian Standards; attention is specially drawn to the following:
() Comma ( , ) has been used as a decirnal marker while in Indian Standards the current
practice is to use full point ( . ) as the decimal marker.

Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear, referring to this standard, they should
be read as 'Indian Standard'.
