Weight Management as a Deterrent against Diseases

Several folks today lose weight for the wrong reasons. This is the reason
why weight loss doesn’t always mean weight management especially when
some nutrients are sacrificed at the altar of weight loss.

Losing weight for the sake of wearing slimmer clothes and looking good in
whatever event that you plan to attend should not be a problem as long as
daily sustenance is maintained. For example, those who switch from a meat-
heavy diet to a vegetarian diet tend to lose protein sources. This is why
some vegetarians don’t go full-blown vegetarian and adapt the pesco-
vegetarian approach instead – vegetables and fish meat to maintain daily
protein intake.

The common problem that most folks encounter about weight management
is that they focus on some nutrients that need to be eliminated from the diet
even if they play a crucial role in the overall well-being of the person.
Carbohydrates are crucial for the storage of energy especially for those
maintaining an active lifestyle for example. Carbs usually get converted into
unwanted fat whenever there is no active lifestyle to maintain. As for the
fats, not all fats are bad in the same breadth as that not all cholesterol in the
body is bad either.

If there should be fat that needs to be eliminated in the course of weight


management, it should be visceral fat – the fat that is often stuck in the
abdominal area and often times get labeled as beer belly. It is often a sign of
lack of physical activity and might lead to certain complications like type 2
diabetes. Insulin deficiency further aggravates the abdominal fat. And no,
sir, liposuction is just a way to cheat methods of eliminating abdominal fat.
If there is enought money to spend for liposuction, why not for a gym
membership? (Note that we mentioned gym membership, not an exercise
equipment. An equipment alone cannot motivate you to lose weight.)

Eat a balanced diet, get into active physical activity and shed off unwanted
fat. Learn ab crunches too before the abdominal fat reaches a critical level.
Weight management does not rely on food intake alone. There should be
physical activity to go with it too.
