INTRODUCTION

Introduction:

This project report is about communication skills .Communication is a Latin word defined
as an act of sharing ideas and information with others through the use of mutually understood
signs and symbols.
The communication cycle consists of the main idea, a sender, encoding of message, a receiver,
decoding of message and feedback or response. Communication can be done through two
different ways:

 Verbal Communication
 Non- verbal Communication

Verbal Communication:
The spoken or written conveyance of message is termed as verbal communication.
The tone, volume and pitch of one’s voice can contribute to effective verbal communication.
Non-Verbal Communication:
Non-verbal communication is communication between people through non-
verbal or visual cues .this includes body language(kinesics),distance between
people(proxemics),voice quality(paralanguage),and touch(haptics).
Difference between Verbal and Non- verbal communication:
Verbal communication includes both face -to -face conversation
between people and written communication. Non-verbal communication includes gestures, facial
expressions, body language and timing etc.
In conclusion, communication is both verbal and non –verbal .The combination of both verbal
and non –verbal communication is key to effectively communicating with other people.
Aristotle’s Model of Communication:
Aristotle Model mainly focused on speaker and speech, is considered as first
model of communication and is most widely accepted among all communication models.
According to his model, three elements must be present in a good communicator or public
speaker.

 Ethos
 Pathos
 Logos
Ethos:
Ethos is the characteristic which makes communicator credible in front of audience. If
there is no credibility, the audience will not believe in communicator.
Pathos:
Pathos is captivating audience through emotional bond. If what the communicator
says matters to audience and they can connect with it, then they will think that
communicator is more credible.
Logos:
Logos is logic. People believe in speaker only if they understand what is being said.
People find logic in everything. If there is no logic behind speaker’s work they will not
get interested since every person has a sense of reason.
