Dear Toddler Families,

As a student teacher, part of my responsibility is to plan and implement a family

involvement project. According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children

(NAEYC), educational involvement of families are activities that parents conduct at home and in

their children’s school settings to directly or indirectly support their child’s learning. Family

engagement is crucial in young children’s development, and promotes for a positive healthy

learning experience for both the children and families involved. Even at such a young age family

involvement aids in improvement in children’s readiness for school, classroom behavior,

attendance, test scores, and academic performance. My hope is to gather you all together April

24th for a toddler family potluck! Catherine and myself are working together to encourage you to

share your favorite recipe with us to create a toddler cookbook and to then make/bring that

particular recipe in with you for our potluck! The potluck will give us an opportunity to all come

together for some great food, and a positive social engagement with one another. Thank you for

your partnership and I am excited to have you all be apart of it.

Sincerely, Tyrah Urie.
