Based on a review of the given applicant’s resumes, my recommendations would be as follows:

Training Officer - Recruit School Program

 Tom Joe

Tom has a wide array of fire service certification as well as a master’s degree in fire science. His formal education should enhance his

ability to research best practices, prepare professional documents, and organize programs to prepare new recruits for duty. His multi-

domain expertise would serve well to integrate multiple important topics to support the department’s all-hazards approach to customer

service.

He may lack the professional experience for the career development position but should be well suited to instruct new recruits and

prepare them for professional certifications/credentialing.

Training Officer - Career Development Section

 Jay Sooks

Jay has multiple fire-service certifications and an Associate degree in fire science. He has worked through the fire service ranks and

currently holds the position of Training Officer Coordinator. He has experience developing, scheduling and teaching multiple fire

service education/training topics. His experience in the fire service would relate well to junior firefighters that aspire to rise through

the ranks and creates a good platform for him to lead from.

He may want to enhance his formal education to further support his position and encourage pursuit of education to junior personnel.
